I have a 06/1979 FJ40. Currently in the process of having the chrome fj60 wheels sandblasted and powdercoated. Need some help with color. I have a spray can of 033 Toyota white that I use for touch ups on white trim pieces. I did not realize how off-white 033 White was until today when I compared 033 to various white color samples at the powder coater. From what I have read the white fj60 rims are cygnus white. However, in most of the pictures I have seen they look to be a crisp and clean white and not so much off-white like my 033 toyota paint (unless my sherwin Williams automotive mixed it wrong).

I brought home two color samples to hold up to my 40. The first sample is a close match to the 033 white and the second is a more pure white (still a little off-white-ish but pretty white). I think the second sample seems to match the nice, freshly painted fj60 rims I see on the Internet but the first sample seems to match the 033 better. I am not sure which color to pick because I am not certain which is more OEM correct?!?

Which is your vote and any thoughts are appreciated

Sample on left is the first sample which resembles 033 more closely (in my opinion) and the sample on the right is the second sample which is the more clean and crisp white (slightly off-white-ish) that I feel like I have seen on the fj60 wheels on the Internet.

Not sure if this is too late for you or not. I went with RAL 9001 powder when I did my rims and bezel. I plan on having the top painted the same color so it may be a little off from the original Cygnus White but that's as close as I could get with the samples they had and he had several hundred. He had roughly 20 shades of white.
Here is a pic of how it turned out.

I thought it would be too yellow but actually turned out rather nice. The PO had used rustoleum white to spray the fiberglass top and inside of the top. This color was considerably different.
Here is a pic comparing the two.

Thanks man. I ended up doing a 9010 of some brand that I can not think of at the moment but they turned out like yours. Looks good man.
