Finally I have time to get outside of Canada.

My brother graduation in April and we wanted to go on back packing trip somewhere South/Central America for 3 weeks, but having hard time to decide where to.

Few countries we have in mind: Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Bolivia.
We are looking for active vacation with a lot of culture natural scenery exploration.

I thought to post here if maybe somebody local have traveled down south.

I would really appreciate if somebody can share any experience with any of these countries.

Hey Yan, how about Machu Picchu, Peru? My niece went packin there a few years ago and she really loved it.

3 weeks eh? how bout backpacking it in costa rica? i hear panama city is just bustling with new developments and a strong economy, nice beaches too i hear. dunno, 3 weeks sounds short for hitting more than 2 countries.. maybe concentrate it on one or two?

for what it's worth, here's a pic thread from our trip to Chile to visit fam on my wife's side..

fyi, sssouth america is starting to get cold (as we're starting to get warm, opposites) so expect cooler weather. maybe stay around central america.

hey, how about Cuba? you can get around there on the cheap and really get a taste of what simple living is like.

So how was the trip Akella? Let us know what you ended up doing, and post any epic pics. See any cruisers???
