Hey folks,

I recently got an LC100 with 490k miles on it, and it still runs smoothly. What a rock!!!

But unfortunately, the sunroof was stuck in open position which is awkward. After some serious effort ( had to pull headliner off, PITA ), I finally managed to take the assembly, but I noticed that the cable guide had to be hammered out, so it’s definitely beyond repair.

Luckily I found a sunroof assembly pulled from a part out for a good price. However, I’m concerned about whether there were any changes to the sunroof design throughout the LC100’s production years. Mine was 1999 model. I want to make sure the part I got will fit my vehicle.

Does anyone know if the sunroof assembly was ever altered during the LC100’s production? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The assemblies are all the same.

By the way, if anyone’s in the market for a fully functional sunroof assembly from a part-out, hit me up! Any model year, I can have it delivered straight to your door. Trust me, just getting that rusted-out cable out was a nightmareo_O, but a well-maintained assembly from a part-out costs about the same as just new cable guide and housing from dealership.

Knowing the pain the sunroof can bring, I lubed the channels, cables and cleaned the interior yesterday on both 4R and LC100. Ordered 21 Taco without a sunroof! what a relief.

It’s definitely smart to take preventive measures like you do, but I got one with severely rusted channels and even a sour smell. I ended up having to hammer it apart, which, unsurprisingly, broke several plastic components beyond repair. It was a tough lesson learned the hard way. Now the assembly is in garbage.
