I have a 2000 that I believe still has original shocks. As long as I am doing shocks, I wanted to try and add a little height through combination of new tires and maybe shocks without adding a lift. I'm pretty good with the motor work but I have never really tangled with suspension components. Most of my wheeling is done on muddy southern hunt club roads and trails - no rocks or anything too challenging. Can anyone recommend some shocks that might give me a little height? The truck I bought was a mall cruiser with Michelin LTX 275/70/16. Planning on going to 285's on the tires to help out as well. Thanks for the help.

Shocks won't do anything for lift. You can gain up to an inch or so easily with a torsion bar adjustment up front and some 30mm Spring spacers in the back. Both have been discussed a lot here, search "torsion bar adjustment" and "spring spacers". New shocks will help with controlling the movement of the suspension and longer shocks are required for taller lifts. But for 1" stock length is ok. Shock selection opinions are very different depending on who you talk to, truck weight, and use.

The larger tire size has be discussed a ton and for the most part 285/75/r16's will fit with out problem and you may beable to fit a slightly wider tire but some have had rubbing others not. Asking which tire people like is like asking what ice cream is the best. Everybody is different. There are a ton of tire threads.

Welcome and happy reading.

PS the masses are gonna want pics of the new rig.

Super easy jack the front up from the jack point in the center of the skid plate. Crank the adjusting bolt. Drop the front. Go as high as you want but make sure you maintain at least 2 1/2" of down travel. There is a great PDF by the member Gunney

Oh yeah, get an alignment after the t bar adjustment. It will throw things off.
