Pretty tough to put a value on it, if it were together maybe $2 to $3k like Warrior said? As it sits......? Early stock 40's go for less than later models. Even complete nice ones don't get big bucks and tend to take a long time to sell.

I'll give you some observations:

The mention of fiberglass bodywork as a good repair scares me.

Lack of soft top bows and doors are a problem - see the soft top threads in this section. ;)

Its appeal would be as a stocker/resto........but enough of the original stuff is not there (or not visible) to ruin that. As a trail rig / daily driver, most believe that the entire drivetrain and brakes would need to be updated (a myth, but that's the way it is  ).

I wasn't trying to bust your balls in the other thread. Like nerd says early 40's just don't go for much. The only thing your rig has going for it is the 30k miles if in fact it's true but that's hard to document. Unfortunatly the rest of the truck doesn't look like 30k miles.

IMHO as it sits 1k if that. Add the indicators, headlights, seats, windshield I think it's MAYBE worth 2-2,500k and there is still no top or doors.

george's is arguable more complete and original and it hasn't even hit 1k and ebay is the free market.

You may get someone that's willing to pay more as cruisers are farther and fewer between in tennesse. As a gauge I paid $2300 for a running 105k original and complete 64, down to the toolkit. It only got to 2k on ebay, It does have some rust though but not enough to scare me off.

Many thanks

No problem. This is what I was looking for when I started this thread. Honest opinions to a guy who knows very little on cruisers as of yet. I value all the opinions. I think I will spend a day on it and get it running again, put some headlights in it and change all the fluids and see what happens. Maybe I completly understand that incompletness is a factor. All I can do is pic thru a few places and see If I can find anything but since these things are so rare especially on the east coast I think its a lost cause. On another note I am watching the one on Ebay but it looks like it has the doors in the back instead of a tailgate, is this a difference in a 62 and a 63? Also how hard are healights to come by these days, I don't want to start buying new stuff and putting on it as for that would look just stupid. One thing about this thing is I can appreciate its 15 years older than I am as I have a 1952 GMC also behind the cruiser but it really has some appeal to it, never paid attention to these things but after roaming in and out of it, it just screams like it could be a neat and nice cruiser but who know, my life right now is so busy and garage space is a necessity these days. I would love if anyone could point me in a direction of how to get a value of a 1952 GMC 3100 single rear wheel truck with zero rust that runs. Thanks fellows for all the help and if you think of anything else please let me know. God bless

Headlights are standard for this as they were fir all the 40 series. The headlight bucket stayed the same I think for about at least another ten years. Even after that the buckets can be made to fit. That's should be a easy part to find. If you had the stock turn signal in good shape they would be worth something. They had lenses on both front and back. Most of these old ones I've seen have had them replaced with later ones. Missing the bows and stock doors are what really hurt the value since they are the hard parts to come by. The early hard doors are just about as rare but later style doors are the same shape so can be used instead. The early soft door are completely different making alot hard to find something to work. I've seen people put hard tops on these old style cruiser but they have the stock soft top door covered in metal. I've got one of these myself and bought another one that they had remove the top but it still had the doors. Even the one that TLC in CA has doesn't have the doors and bows. Tail lights cut into the tub don't help the value. I couldn't tell does it have Land Cruiser stamped into the front bezel, this year should have had that bezel. That would be a plus on a selling point.

I would agree with the $1000 as it is now and maybe $2000 to $3000 in street legal shape. The sad part about it is without all the stock parts it would be worth more with a V8, auto trans, disk brake axle and buckets seats than with the stock running gear.

I would say get it in running shape before you sell it it will be worth your while if it is really that close. If your from a area where rust free cruisers are rare you might find somebody who has to have one.

Here is another idea is if you have the right bezel, turn signals, seats and maybe a few of the other rare parts take them off and replace them with later parts before you sell it. They would be worth your while to sell on Ebay if they are in good shape. Your not going to get any more for it with these parts since you don't have all the parts needed to restore it. Just ask on this forum and we will tell what is going to be worth your time to replace and what would be wasting your time.

The tailgate was stock on softtop model trucks. The little doors were stock on Hard top trucks. Like john said above some of the parts have most of the value. Rust free oem tailgate, stamped bezel.

John,
Thanks for the detail discussion on my cruiser, I really appreciate it. I will go home tonight and see what I can make of all the things that are missing. The front seats are there and in decent shape, I might recover them because it will cost me nothing minus the material. The next thing is I don't have the doors or the rear seats either, so I know they are missing. Turn signals I think I have them but will have to check and the radiator is missing I also know so thats another issue. Whats a used in good shape radiator cost do you think? Headlights I will have to find but what hardware do you have to have to make it work? It still has the wires and they still feed power good, just with a bulb is there a adjustment housing that holds the bulb or what? All that I can really think of thats not there is as follows:

Windshield and rubber
both doors
rear side seats
soft top with supports
radiator

Everything else is still there along with the factory key in the ignition. Now another question I have is this is a 62' so does that mean its a 12 volt system or is it still the old 6 volt? Any and all info will be appreciated and thanks again. As always, God Bless...

Thanks WESINTL for clearing that up for me.

oh I see it now!!!!!

So running and driving, maybe 3K or so, is that about right? The 63 on ebay sold for 1700+ I think. LEt me know, God Bless

Well finally got the oil pan on and sealed up nicely, put in oil and bellhousing bottom plate also and through a battery in her. Then I sat a gas can off to the side of her in the passenger seat and put the hose in it and here we go. I primed the carb a couple of times to make sure the jet was flowing and then turned the key, cranked 5 times and fired off. Let it build pressure on the oil to 40 psi, instantly she quited down to a purr of sorts and let her idle. There was not the first bit of smoke out of the motor with surprised me. Also Terry Morefield from Morefield modifications came and checked it out and said a good asking price would be around the 4k running and that is would be a deal to whoever got it. We did some more digging and the motor has a FJ25 intake manifold on it but otherwise it all else looks orginal. While I had it running I tried to shift gears and the clutch appears not to work but I think I will just stop here and sell her as is. I don't want to start putting new parts on it and just killing the original aspect of the truck for hopes that someone will jump on it and try to restore it. Thanks again for all the help and God bless
Michael
