For those of you fortunate enough to live in a place where the HJ series trucks are available - can you point to a source for seat covers. Am looking for a set to fit the 60/40 front seat and bench rear seat. I will need to have these shipped to the US.

Thanks,

Will

ebay, there is dozens of them. Imnoit sure we get the 76 series with bench seats, but the 78/79 series would be the same

I am pretty sure there is a HJ76 model. Seeing as how two of them were delivered to my office this week. I guess it would be more precisely described as HZJ76 based on the listing from the dealer:

Still looking for seat covers...

A HJ76 ,if there were such a thing, would have a 2H engine that was in production from 1980-1990.
Your model has the 1HZ engine so it can not be anything but a HZJ76.
As you can see the 1st one or two letters denote which engine the vehicle has.

roger that, you are precisely, absolutely correct - but that still doesn't help find seat covers, which was the original question...

Whats wrong with my suggestion in post#3?

And if you really want to make things easier you could at least tell us if it is LHD or RHD and what country you are in.
One of the penalties of owning a 7* series is a that you have to get off your ass and do some detective work yourself to obtain the goodies and keep it running, because newbys quickly wear out their welcome asking for stuff that is just a google search away.

Check Escape Gear, they do covers for 70 series landcruisers. If they make covers for your truck, Equipt Expedition Outfitters can get them. They got me covers for my 97 HZJ-75.

If everyone quit asking simple questions, you'd have no reason to post ignorant responses. "Check Ebay" is hardly a recommendation for a quality supplier. Given the rarity of these trucks in the states, I assumed that one of you guys in Australia/Africa/Mid-East would have much more experience with the aftermarket and be able to point to a solid company with good products. Buying from Ebay is a crap shoot at best if you don't know who you are buying from. Instead, you feel like you need to jump in and show your ass to the world. Strange - I can't figure out what benefit you get from that... Anyhow, I appreciate you sharing your wisdom and experience. But, I would really appreciate it if you would go find another thread to play in.

Phrogg4ever:

Thanks for the lead. Turns out that I've done business with one of the US Equipt dealers - he's tracking down the covers for me.

Are you looking for seat covers to simply protect your existing seats or something more permanent and where are you located?
Headrest or no headrest?

Easy now.

I have no idea what sort of seats you have, nor do I know how picky you are, but I'll be making some seat covers out of canvas for my HZJ77 some time in the next six months and if they're not a PITA to do maybe I could make you a set (see chickworx.com). Otherwise, I think ForealBoreal had a lead on some in Aussieland.

just want to protect the ones that are in the truck. They have headrests, but I am not all that concerned about covering the rests, just the seats.

I ordered from Inland Australia. They were a pain in the ass to deal with and a mediocre product at that. Its really frustrating when someone says "yeah we can build you that exactly" get your stuff and its the wrong material. get back to the company and they respond "oh we can fix that, sorry" and send you what you the correct material the second time around but for a completely different seat... They decided to just refund me and not give me correct seat covers for my truck.

My advice, get someone to make a set for you locally that will be an exact fit and they can do exactly what you want.:meh:

Charla I would love to get a set of seat covers made by you if you had the correct measurements.

Have you looked at the products offered by Cabelas or Bass Pro Shop?

if we were on facebook i'd be pressing the like button

Not sure I would use me as an example. I owned a LJ78 at one time so according to some I have "no credibility" :D
......1978HJ45 :)
I will be outside shining my HJ75......

alright guys, this sure got out of hand in a hurry. Must be the Aussie accent, just seemed like a hard response to a simple question. I'm not really a newbie, just don't have time to rack up thousands of posts, and tend not to respond when I can't add anything relevant.

Regarding credibility, I dropped a character in the truck part number... But I assure you they are actually and legitimately here in the US. A few pics on the delivery truck and offloaded at our office. Two LHD 2012 HZJ76 Cruisers and two LHD 2012 Hilux Double Cabs. I guess I can't prove that the pics are taken in Virginia, you'll have to trust me on that one. Will try to snap one next to an interstate sign, then we can just argue whether or not I'm a photoshop wizard.

As far as how they got here - my company runs driver training for federal government customers.

Apologies for disturbing the 70 list, will go back to lurking...
