Need a distributor cap and rotor for a 1979 Toyota FJ40

If you are looking for the discontinued 1/79 - 7/80 cap, you are going to have a hard time. I believe the NOS is pretty much gone. The rotors are still out there. fjparts.com had the caps in stock a few years ago, and that is where I got my last one. I have two FJ60 distributors to replace my 79 distributor when the time comes. I suggest you buy a used FJ60 dizzy and the dented cover to replace your stock setup. Or you can pickup a DUI brand new unit. Unless some company decides to do a production run, those caps are gone forever.

You must be new?

Here you go. No affiliation, not my part. I did buy two when they first showed up there, they appear good quality...price has more than doubled since then and they've only got one remaining. Pics are of one of the ones I bought.

If you close you will see the contacts in the cap are aluminium. That's why I bought NAPA Echlin caps for Toyota because they had brass contacts - aluminium oxide is an insulator, and requires scraping often for good performance IMHO.

Isn't $75 like half way to a new hei dizzy.

Don't get wrong I like breaker points as usually I can Gerry rig them to get me home - brain box stuff not so much
