Unaffiliated.

This is near my house and i was considering going to look at it. Timing belt was done at 200k, and ad says the anti-lock brakes and CD player does not work.

Price is 6500 negotiable.

CD player - I have one (cheap) if needed. Also check the connection under the seat to the amp, (and fuses). Anti-lock - I assume it stops but light is on? Will it pump? I have an 98 and it is pretty obvious (intrusive) when it activates. I would look up the price of a pump. Interior shows significant wear, but I would be more concerned with body (rust/dents). Price leaves room for renovation. Sunroof repair a pain (mine too, haven’t bothered with it). Might be worth a test ride for a work or trail truck. I would be concerned with maintenance record - if someone ignores the anti-lock, might have other issues and “deferred maintenance” :wrench:

I plugged the vin into the toyota database and found very little in terms of maintenace records. At this point im leaning away from it. I want a car where i know what needs to be done if needed. As you pointed out, this one looks like it could be full of surprises and im not knowledgeable enough to know the difference, so i will play it safe and not risk it.

Thanks!

If you are truly interested in it, it would be worthwhile to take it to a Toyota dealership or a mechanic you trust and have a full inspection done. ABS not working is kinda a big deal since that is a SAFETY system for the vehicle. While it does not prohibit the vehicle from driving it is something that could cause and catastrophic issue (system SUDDENLY engages for no reason causing braking issues or brakes fail all together).

Says negotiable so pend what comes back on from inspection you could walk away (only out inspection cash) or drop him an offer that is appropriate with work that needs to be done.

Agreed Greg, although i dont think this one is worth the 138 dollars inspection cost but i could be wrong here. I did plan on having toyota or lexus do a PPI first for vehicle that i am serious on.

Evmetal, what state are you in?
