Hello everyone,

Hope all is well!

I have the following problem with my 2004 LX470:

The speaker used for navigation voice guidance and for bluetooth telephone cuts in and out and works intermittently. The sound system (the radio) is otherwise okay.

Has anyone seen this before or know of a fix for same?

Thank you!

what i've seen i that when nav ecu was disconnected i got no bt or sound comin out of the front driver side speaker.

therefore - i think either the connection to your nav ecu ( under passgr seat) is going in/out or the connection to your front driver side speaker is going in/out.

next time it happens see of the map button displays blank or the map (iirc when nav ecu is disconnected your map button displays blank scrn).

along those lines - if its just sound disrupted and not call or trip or functionality its probably just your front left spkr since nav voice and bt only go through that spkr iirc.

Thank you for your prompt reply!

When the sound is interrupted the navigation map / directions are not and still work.

So you think the problem is occuring at the speaker itself? Where are the cables to the navigation system - towards the front of the seat bottom or towards the back?

Thanks again!

The NAV ECU has audio output lines that interface with with an input to Audio Amplifier... I would suspect that if you audio system is working fine and the maps are not interrupted that this is the problem area.

Loose connector or crimped wire in the connector bundle.

I found what I believe to be the navigation system under the front passenger seat by raising the seat to its maximum height and sliding it all the way forward, shown in the first picture. It seems that the wires to the box are to the front of the seat bottom, but I am having difficulty accessing them because even if I were to slide the seat all the way back, there is a panel obstructing same. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to gain access to the area?

Otherwise, I found the strange circular vent shown in the last two pictures under the driver’s seat. Does anyone know what it is!? I know it’s not heating ducts for the rear passenger floor, as same are on the center console.

Best to remove the passenger seat by un bolting it. Pretty simple.

The box under the driver seat is the heater for the mid row / rear.

Are you sure its for heat? Thought the heat vents were located at the rear bottom of the center console under and to the left and right of the pop out cup holder tray.
