Trying to put together a group purchase for Electronic and Paper maps for route planning and navigation. I've been using the National Geographic TOPO! state series product with great success. The software provides 7.5' USGS topographic coverage for an entire state. The software can be used to create routes and waypoints on your PC and transfer them to virtually any GPS device. Likewise, routes, waypoints, and tracks can be received from your GPS device and displayed on the PC. With the GPS attached to the PC, the software is also capable of displaying your current position and track in real time if you happen to travel with a Netbook or . In addition to the software, National Geographic also makes some decent maps called Trails Illustrated for select areas. These are printed on tear proof, water proof Teslin paper. See the site for more detailed information for coverage area. The details for the Trails Illustrated maps can be found here:

The software maps are $99.95 per state and the Paper Maps are $11.95 each. If there's enough interest we can get these items for 30% off. For those that are mathematically challenged, that's $70 for the software and $8.50 for the paper maps. Unlike most of the items we buy for our Cruisers these are light and shipping will be cheap for a change.

Note that the maps can't be loaded to your GPS device (unless it's a Magellan Triton). I am NOT affiliated w/ National Geographic - I just like the product and need more of it.
