National Public Land’s Day at Gordy's Hill OHV Area: Meet at the staging area at Gordy's Hill at 9am on Saturday morning for clean up of that area. Please bring hats, sunscreen, gloves, and lots of water. Hopefully we can ride some trails that afternoon and on Sunday morning before we head home. Pot luck dinner on Saturday evening. There may be other projects for that area. I will try to get a hold of Mike to see if there are any other things that he needs for us to do. I will be inviting him to the pot-luck as well. You can drive down on Friday and camp if you'd like, that's our plan. Directions to the staging/camping area:
a. Escondida Exit 152 is 1.6 miles north of Socorro Exit 150
b. After exiting at 152 travel east for .2 mile (green sign with white lettering (Escondida Lake RV Park) and follow curve around heading north
c. Travel 1.4 miles to a "Y" (GPS UTM Easting 325523, Northing 3776812) and bear right headed east, cross railroad tracks and continue across the Escondida Bridge over the Rio Grande
d. At Pueblitos (T intersection), turn left onto Johnson Hill County Road 146 (the road is directly next to a private drive, take the road on the left side of the fence) and head north and then east for about 1 mile, then turn east and follow arroyo road to sand hill staging area
