I will use only new, OEM pumps on my junk....that said, I am sure that you will be fine with a reman pump from another vendor...I have installed pieces on others vehicles that were supplied, napa, carquest, etc, they work...

Good luck!

In my experience, I'd had better luck with Napa rebuilds (water pump, alternator, starter) than the ones from autobone. Lifetime warranty doesn't mean much when you're stranded on the street.

well, i say dont go with napa, i have had nothing but crap from them. the water pump only lasted about a year before it started weeping. and my main beef with them was a timeing chain snaped after only one year of use.
napa sucks

I consider rebuilts on a risk-analysis basis. Rebuilt carbs and starters seem to be fairly reliable, and not so risky. There rebuilts seem appropriate.

OTOH, a bad rebuilt water pump can send a fan thru a radiator. A bad rebuilt fuel pump will dilute the oil in your pan with fuel before you know it.

And then there are the 'grey area' ones like rebuilt smog pumps, power steering pumps and brake boosters, where quality seems to vary widely. That's when it's really good to run a question by the board and see what others have experienced.

I vote new on the water pump.

IIRC, the Napa price on the thermostat is higher than the Toyota dealer!
