Alright guys bear with me. This truck that I just picked up needs some work, so I'm probably going to have a lot of questions.

This may be a tough one due to the number of factors involved:

This morning I changed the spark plugs, turned the truck on and it ran fine. Removed the compressor belt, tightened the other two belts, turned the truck on and it ran fine. Let it run for about 5 minutes, backed it out of my garage, went to the fornt of my house to see that my shocks had arrived from Cruiser Dan. Went back to the truck, turned it off. Then immediately tried to turn it back on and there was nothing. No power, no click, etc... I checked all of the obvious connections, battery, starter, alternator, eveything looks fine. Later the power came on enough for the clock to come on, now nothing.

This truck also has one of those security devices where you have to flick the high beams before turning the key. Does anyone know to disable this thing? I wonder if I may have shorted something out. At one point when I was flicking the switch there was a buzzing coming from the large fuses under the dash.

Any ideas?

First guess would be the headlight relay for the hi/low beams went out.

"no power, no click..."

Normally, what happens if you don't flick the high beam before turning the key? If it's a no power situation, then I'd bet it's your anti-theft device acting up.

Otherwise, I'd make sure the battery and especially the ground connections are not just tight, but clean. Then move on to your fusible links, etc. There also might be something going on in the steering column key assembly... but that wouldn't affect your clock so I'd strike that.

Look into the anit theft, then the grounds and battery connections.

Alright, problem solved.

I jump started it, but something was wtill not right. The stereo was not working...except for when I would flick the brights or use the turn signals, then it would pulse on and off. As soon as i turned it off it would not start again. At this point I decided to take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

The electric removed the antitheft device and replaced some shorting wires in the steering column. So, for anyone that wants to steal my truck, you don't have to flick the brights anymore.
