not sure if i'm just getting used to the mysteries of a manual choke and a carb or if there's actually a problem. anyway, my truck starts right up in the morning or after it's been left for a few hours. also starts right up if it's been running to normal operating temp, turned off, then started again a few minute later. however, if it's been left for 10 minutes to about 2 hours it doesn't want to start right away. it turns a number of times, eventually catching and then running pretty rough for a while. eventually runs fine, but it takes a bit. could this just mean adjustment of the carb? or is it more. i know i have a warped exhaust manifold, i'm considering replacing that anyway, but i've also heard that a new one will probably just warp as well. but i do wonder if there's an issue with the intake manifold too. obviously, there a million things that could cause this on one of these, but i was hoping perhaps someone else has a similar experience that they could point me in the right direction. any thoughts would be much appreciated. thanks much.

What is your right foot doing when you're trying to start your truck?

Mine does the exaxt same thing. I call it a medium start temp. I pump the pedal 3 or 4 times and then hold it half way down and usually starts right up. Like you said cold or hot starts as soon i turn the key. When cold choke out full before i crank it.

Please read THIS LINK and pay special attention to my post near the end.

PS- it's OK, it's a pretty common problem.

hey, thanks for the info. i don't have a manual, so i wasn't privvy to the starting procedures. i need to find one (i'm assuming spector probably has them). i'll do as you say and see how it goes. i had been giving it gas and sometimes fully depressed on hot starts, but not pumping 3 times as suggested. i've been spoiled by fuel injection for too long. thanks, luke.

Yep, learning the idiosynchracies (sp?) of a carbaurated engine can get interesting. This is my first venture into the world of carbauration as well.
