My friend gave me a Palm Zire 72 recently and I quickly loaded up a Tomtom Nav4 software product. I was able to load several state maps of interest (Vermont, New York, New Hampshire) as well as the Canadian Provinces. The system works well for road trips. It is a PDA GPS, not terribly glamorous but highly functional. The GPS puck receiver is WAAS enabled and routinely grabs 6-7 satellites, even in our Vermont mountains.

I am interested in expanding capability. What can I do to add topo maps to my set up? At present I load maps using the tomtom software onto the SD card. Is there a way to load topo maps and are these easily available?

I appreciate any insights you have.

Thanks.

Curious as well, as I have the same basic setup. I thought about Delor.me and Nat Geo, but you would have to be very careful about the scale you'd get from them.

There's also a setup/software that allowsyou to scan paper maps and calibrate them with GPS coordinates. That might come handy for places such as Baja.

Uh....it has been a couple of weeks and I am here to report that the unit sucks. I am returning the PalmOne Navigator for my palm zire72. The unit broke after 2 weeks.

Sorry to hear that. My Palm t/x has been very durable so far.
