I have a felpro gasket...however the ports are large and are not seperated for the exhaust...

(for my 74 F.5 engine with MAF header)

I read that the older F engine OEM gaskets are very good and are individually ported...i believe its part # 17172-60031

does anybody have a pic of this oem exhaust manifold gasket?

also does anybody have a pic of the Remflex? and part number for it?

I uploaded a pic of the felpro

Mine is a 1/75 2F manifold gasket and here is that part number 17172-61041. I'm not sure if the 74 has the same size studs or not. You can't go wrong with the OE gaskets. I think I paid around $43

I bought a Remflex gasket on Amazon .com about a month or so ago.....it is great and I will buy another one for my new 55.

I believe it is RF7009..... F and 2F the same....

Its all 1 piece. I have found the OEM gaskets the best. Huge difference most noted in the head gasket.

heres a pic from MAF...i believe the top one is the older F...the middle is the 2F...and bottom is the 3F?

these are individual ported...however not steel sleeved around the individual exhaust ports...and not OEM

are the Remflex ones individual exhaust ported like these? does it have steel sleeved around the exhaust ports? or is it like the felpro from my 1st post?

OEM

I got this OEM one from a Toyota dealer for my 74 1.5F. Seems to match your center pic.

Steamer thanks for that picture.... do you know the part#? is it 17172-60031 ?

does anybody know if the earlyer F manifold gaskets looked like this 74 one? or did it look more like the top one in post #8

are the port sizes smaller on the earlyer gaskets ...or...is it just a bad pic? or bad gasket?

JohnnyC - so your saying the larger gasket is the better of the two? What's the brand?

The gasket that came with my TPI Tri-Flo header looks like the 2nd thicker gasket you have pictured.

Bob at TPI told me it was the best one for the job.

Do you have a pic of yours? All I saw on their website was a header that does not look ANYTHING like a Tri-Y header.

Here are some pics of my header

Interesting indeed. I have never heard of anyone trying to market a 6 into 1 header as a Tri-Y. Might be an appropriate subject for a different thread. Rather than hijack this one, let's see a pic of the gasket.:)

Sorry wasn't trying to hijack. I got to this thread from a link JohnnyC put it in my build thread.

I went to TPI4x4.com and your right they label it a Tri-Y but it has TRI-FLO stamped onto the header itself (sorry no picture). TPI4x4

And Im too lazy to walk out to garage to take a picture (maybe tomorrow) but my gasket looks like the one Johnny calls Felpro.

Mark - what's your thought?

like the one posted in post #9 is the one i used....an oem gasket...the exahust posts are individual...seals MUCH better...

post #11 shows the difference between the oem 17172-60031 gasket (smaller looking one) and larger felpro gasket...the 3rd picture in post #11 you can see why the oem gasket would seal better around the exhaust ports

tri-mil: Volkswagen Exhausts, VW Exhausts, Datsun Exhausts, Porsche Exhausts, Off-Road Exhausts :: Tri-Mil Performance Exhausts

looks like you tryed to mount that up already...looks like you need the shaved washers and a toyota gasket...the silicone didnt even touch the exhaust ports

i dont know about the hole size (for mounting the gasket) for your engine...2f right? maybe somebody can chime in wether the toyota 17172-60031 gasket would work for your application....i know it works great for my 74 F155

One is not better than the other. They are different gaskets for different applications.

The F gasket is less gasket because earlier heads have less manifold surface and smaller 10mm bolts.

The common Felpro gasket is for 2F. It has 12mm bolt holes & larger ports. Some people have used the 2F gasket on an F head and it worked, but it is not a good idea. The too large bolt holes allow the gasket to drop, so the fire ring is dangerously close to the edge of the manifold surface on the head.

HTH.
