I made an awning...for $20. Its no ARB but it serves my needs. I made it from a $5 tarb and $15 in PVC parts the bungee cords came with the $5 tarp. The awning is 6x8 ft, its easy to breakdown and store, if theres any questions feel free to ask. Enjoy.

-the awning rolled up on the rack, sorry an action shot was all I had.

Thanks for helping out some of us Busted Mud Brudders!...lol Nice, simple design, coupled with a real reasonable price. Good contribution!

Very nice. How did you secure it to the rack in the open position?

Thanks for the compliment, in this picture I took from up top you can see the red bungee cords I used to keep it secured to the rack

How well does it hold up or in this case down in the wind?

So far suprisingly good, I havent gotten to use it in anything too windy yet but this weekend ill see how it does and let you know. It would be alot better if I did side bars from the rack to each end, but so far I dont think I need to do that.

On a side note this is a two person thing setting it up, it can be done with one person but its a PITA.

I was thinking of something similar, but using a straight bar the length of the tarp bolted to another straight bar attatched to the rack (kinda making a tarp sandwich to secure that end). Awsome job very clean and budget friendly :grinpimp:

should i assume that all the pvc pieces roll up w/in the tarp? or no?

nice, works for you! gave me an idea but i don't have a roof rack..:(

They can roll up with the tarp, I stick them in my rear storage unit, but they would be fine to roll up with it.

I set it up in the wind yesterday, it did better than expected I only used two tie downs, I wouldnt put a stove under it but it suprised me with how stable it was, if you used more tie downs it would be even better.

Adding to the "cheap mod" list I put up some interior lights on the second and third windows, and the lift gate, and in my storage drawers. I bought them for $10 from Harbor Freight, they came in a 10 pack.
sorry for the crapy pictures.

You should've invested in a good camera before spending $20 on the awning... :hillbilly:

Nice work! Can't beat it for $20!!
