Well after living here since 1988, I finally made it to the OBX last week! I pulled the camper down with my father in law's Tacoma, so got some nice pics of it out on the beach in Corolla, etc.

Also have pics of the 4x4 event at Uwharrie and my LCrusher hanging out at the mud pit, camping, etc.

holy crap dude..... no wonder you thought the 80 was gutless. Thats a huge camper. Nice pics.

ja, it is 27' and right at 5,000 lbs which is the US tow rating for the cruzr, course you add some fresh water in the tank @ 8lbs per gallon and the misc junk inside it is a bit over I imagine.

Biggest thing is you had to get down to 2nd to hold 55mph on the hwy on the slightest uphills, then to 3rd for level or downhill. That was with the OD turned off and ECT on.

I have never seen the HP/Torque band on this engine but my guess is that at 3000 rpm there is not much torque to "hold" you.

On the flip side with the Tacoma, running to OBX in 4 (not D which is OD) the cruise on those same little hills would drop down to 3rd to hold 60-65ish.

Coming back, I had to just turn the cruise off the Taco or it would have stayed in 3rd the whole way home since you are "climbing" from the coast to here.

MPG: On the Cruiser I get 12 mpg approx on my daily driving...AND I get 12 mpg pulling the camper (ha!!)

On the Taco, I think he gets 15ish or so daily driving and I was getting only 8-10 mpg pulling the camper.

LOVE my cruizer and ain't nothing that a 350/350/205/208 couldn't solve anyway! :)
