Still battling bad brakes, today i installed a Centric remanufactured booster to go with my brand new Aisin master cylinder.

fwiw, my MC came in an Advics box, has an Advics rubber stamp on the body, and Aisin casting marks. Bought it from an ebay vendor. Everything looks great and seems to work great.

Anyway, unlike another person who reported using one of these here, i could find no differences between the original 20 year old booster i took out of my truck and the Centric replacement. All sheet metal work, hardware, and markings were exactly the same. It just wasn't painted black. In every dimension it appears to be a remanufactured toyota brake booster.

I bought it from partsbin. it arrived very quickly, probably because it shipped from Phoenix which is only about a 9 hour drive away. well, 7 the way i drive it.

Removing the old booster is a real PITA, and the FSM is no help at all.

I had to take the nuts off of the motor mounts and jack up the engine before i could get the old one out.

I ran out of daylight before i could bleed the system, so i don't have a final report as such. yet.

Works awesome. I have brakes again.

Installing the OEM booster on my 97 was a hassle but not to the point of jacking the motor or removing mounts...

Getting the OEM booster out of my '94 was basically impossible until i jacked up the motor. The mounts were intact, just took the nuts off from below.

what if this doesn't work? :hillbilly:...i had my shop delete the lspv (put in a manual one) and run some new lines...along with stainless steel hoses..is it better than when i opened the system? yes by a long shot..imo these brakes suck on these trucks...i did new calipers pads and rotors along with what i said above and i'm comfortable having someone else drive it. these trucks are just so ridiculously heavy and emergency stops will never be their strong point

It works. I do wonder if i should have painted it first. it might be bare media-blasted steel, but you'd think there would be some surface corrosion from time on the shelf if that were the case.

Probably should have painted it bright red anyhow.

I would like to be able to say that my brakes are better than they have ever been, what with the powerstop 100-series pads, but, it's been since ******* may that i had good brakes so i don't remember.
