So about 2 weeks ago he had yellow runny poo and it was fixed by rice and soft food. He didn't have much of an appetite until it was time for rice and soft food. We switched his nomal food (Iams) to a natural dog food (also Iams) and he wolfed it down for a week or so. Today, soft poo started up again (yellowish but not runny) and now he's throwing up his partially digested food (also yellowish) He wants to eat grass too.

I searched online and it seems the yellow is bile due to an upset stomach. But there isn't much mention of food in there too.

Anyone heres dog done this. I'd like my white carpet to stay that way while I'm at work tommorrow!

He's probably got an allergy to something in the food. Also, don't go switching foods like crazy. Find a dry dog food which is high protein, no preservatives, and no corn fillers (hard to digest). Mix it 50/50 with what you have been feeding him for about a week to give his stomach a chance to get use to it. You might also try cutting his rations back a bit. If he is sick right now, then don't feed him. Give his stomach a chance to settle down. Dogs are fine to go a day or two without food as long as they have a lot of water. Like most dogs whose stomachs are upset, they will graze on grass and throw-up. That's normal. After a day or two, give him half or quater rations of the mixed dog foods - like a cup in the morning and a cup in the afternoon. We feed our dog Orijen dog food: Orijen Pet Foods: About ORIJEN:. That took care of her stomach problems. Give the dog a week or so to see how he handles it. You can also give them a table spoon of dry catnip. It has no psycho effects on dogs but it does help them settle their stomach and reduce pain.

Now if your dog is violently vomiting and has a bad case of the runs accompanied with a fever, then go to a vet immediately. Dogs love to chew on old rotten bones or eat garbage if they have a chance and are therefore prone to a host of bacterial infection.

Interesting that you say that. he was going to town on this old bone yesterday. Its one if those ones stuffed with stuff that last forever. I didn't give him dinner tonight so we'll see how he is tommorrow. Otherwise he's acting normal and seem okay. Haven't brought him to the vet but if it continues through tommorrow....

How old is the dog? Is the dogs stool real soft and runny brown and stinks the high heaven?

I dont want to alarm you, But read up on parvo, IF its a younger dog especially.
Its all I got, Good luck!

x2 on parvo

don't give him any food for 24 hours. he should s*** out all of the water in that time. it's hard to do (i know because i have done it) but stick with it. after 24 hours, buy some good food ( i am feeding mine evo now and his turds are much harder) then see what is going on after that. i took mine to the vet and he had no problems whatsoever. your dog may just have a weak stomach like my dobie. it's a pain in the ass(and carpet) to fix, but you'll get over it. good luck

One other thing, don't give him table scraps ever if he's got a sensitive stomach. Our dog loves chicken skin, but it'll make her sick in about 30 minutes.

Dogs use to be able to eat everything and anything - like the dogs you see in developing countries. However, we have bred the iron stomach out of many of our dog breeds in the north.
