i got home after 3 weeks of not driving the lx when i went to open the rear door it wouldnt work so i opened it from the inside and it worked fine. i pulled the inside pannel off and found where the out side door handle attaches to the release "switch" theres a yellow plug that holds the two together. it broken and i need a new one. whats the part number? has any one else had this problem? seems kina like a weak link in the door whats the deal toyota?

I haven't seen it...any pics? Could you replace it with a nut and bolt, or something else more permenant?

i dont have any pics at the moment but i might try and take some later. Theres basicaly a linkage that runs from the out side handle to the door "switch" the linkag is like a bent bar to fit around the door curvs and at the end its thredded and a nut piece screws on so it can be ajusted. the nut also has like a ball on the end where the yellow clip is and the clip is what keeps the linkage from falling off the "switch"

Mike,
walk blindly into your stealership or if you know anyone in the body shop business stop by and see if they have one. they are pretty common parts for most vehicles and chances are they will have something that will work. if that fails post a pic and I will raid my stash of parts if you need it.
