Last year my antenna had the misfortune of meeting some scrub brush while deployed. It folded in half like a cheap suit so I pushed it back down into the housing and there it has stayed, never to provide enjoyable radio again.

The antenna motor went bad on my 90 4Runner. To resolve the problem I pulled the antenna motor and mast and replaced it with a whip antenna from a newer model. I'm hoping to find an OEM replacement whip antenna that fits the 80? I know a few of us have a 80 series and a 4Runner or Tacoma. I think the first gen Tacoma looks to be a good fit for the 80. The OEM parts are $70 so I thought I check with the group before pulling the trigger. Has anyone done this swap?

Thanks...

Rubber. Practical, cheap, attractive.

2 out of 3 ain't bad.

I've read some posts in the 80's forum about getting a device that allows you to use your CB antenna for all 3, CB, FM and AM. I'm looking into that because I keep my radio antenna down, not by choice so much though. Since I hooked up my stereo, the switch isn't working and I haven't bothered into getting it working. Anyways, seems like you have some options.

People still listen to terrestrial radio?
