landtank said:If the alternator was poorly installed then the connection could burn out from that. Cleaning it up with some emery cloth should do the trick. Be sure to clean both sides of the grommet and the stud and nut the best you can.
THANKS Rick -- I dremeled the threads and the o-connector, and WE WERE GETTING 70 AMPS AT AUTOZONE!! I the greased it and it's back together --
That makes me happy!
The install for the lead on the alternator is odd -- it doesn't seem to install tight, and the black plastic piece disallows much ratcheting of the nut (the plastic breaks!) --
