Another project i have on the go , putting my fuel loving cruiser on gas atm just built a frame to hold my tank ,the tanks going to be a 120 ltr so i should get some decent k's out of this tank People say fuel eco is ment to be less on gas but my last 3 vehicles i get more out of gas than petrol, my last cruiser i had the tank on top of the tray behind the cab as such , you have to have a cover/box covering it so anything sliding in the tray cant puncture the tank , So this time i thought id sink the tank below the tray (well drop the tank half way down) then bould a tool box over it with a floor inside the box above the tank ... two birds.. one stone im thinking,, i cut the main tray chassis rails thinking the headboard would need more suppry but its holding up strong so its a bonus....even though looking at the frame and its basics it still seemed to take me ages to cut out the tray and brackets a and make a frame to hold the tank but i got it done today and will paint it soon when i get the tank,
I still havent decided what gas kit to go with just the regular kit or gas injection which cost twice as much but will give better power and eco and will work when i get more funds for turbo kit..

and yes my exhaust sucks and rattles and gets removed this week

Did you change your mind about the aux petrol tank? Im not a lover of LPG but I got to admit it saves some money, probably $30-40 a week on my Commodore V6 (3800 buick).

Its a bit gutless out on the open road on LPG though.
How much extra for the gas injection?

1st pic you can see were i had to chop through the tray chassis and the bottom half of the angle is to be welding but the top bollted because its alloy so half and half bit of a pain
2nd is the near end result

not much but might help some orthough mostly only Aussies have trays on there cruisers utes and most Auz cruiser utes are diesels

:D

The tank will sit about the height of the red line and ill build a full tray width box/ tool box to the height of the blue line

Yea mate a rear sub tank wont fit when the coil hats go in and the gas will hold more and be half the price ,the 5.0ltr commys get better eco than the v6 for some strange reason as for me it will half my fuel bill going roughly of the k's and cost's my brother gets from his gassed 97 fz 80 series and that inly has a 60 or 70 ltr tank ,off road the lpg hold sgood unless you need to give it sh1t up a big dune or something

for a gas injection kit fitted its around the $4500 ( most the gas injection kits go on the new falcon taxis and LS1's and LS2's commys because they have plastic intake manifolds and inj dont back fire old gas kits can back fire and blow your airbox appart) you get the gov rebate of 1850 or something it droped from 3000.. i have 2 mates that are gas fitters so no labour cost for me yeww:D

you wont regret it. i got gas fitted to my 2.6 rodeo at the start of last year and i reckon it paid off the $800 left over from what the $3000 rebate covered by the end of the year. was and electronic system with its own computer and they fitted an O2 sensor for it as well, but still only a mixer type. farts and backfires heaps out the exhaust when you back off and a bit when you change gears, but thats apparently because its got extractors and a freer flowing muffler.

Got my 120ltr tank in today

Still havent figured out if ima go normal or gas injection

What brand of tank is it?

sprint gas mate nothing but the best ;) i dont really know if its best but seems to be a very popular kit

Clint79, a question, with the 120 lt LPG tank, what performance can have (how many km) ???

NOt to sure yet with this motor because my last cruiser motor was a 3f on gas, going roughly on my brother's 97 80 series with the 1fz-fe on gas ,for performance ive driven it down the boggy beach in summer with no probs about power what so ever only time i noticed the need for more power was to try for some huge sand dunes pertol has a bit more torque , as for how many k's mate the 80 series usually get around the give or take 450km per tank but thats only a 60 or 70 ltr tank soo for same motor lighter vehicle and not constant allwheel drive hopefully around the 800 ks per tank and ill be happy but that also depends on which kit i go for ,if i can fund the gas injection system that will have better power and econmy

Oh yeah these few pics got deleted the other day but the orginal muffler is to close to the tank so got the exhaust moved to behind the cab sounds really bad sound like sh1t, and the bracket looks really bad and weak will prob rattle off afet one 4x4 cant wait to fix it properly ,once i get the rear coil tops in then i can plan away to get the exhaust out the back again at traffic lights the fumes seem to hang around not good

Lpg is around 50 cents AU a ltr

not to sure about diesel didnt look

Okie dokies
Have my gas all hooked up and running ,off road hardly noticed and power difference at all ,as to my old carbd fj75 lost a fair bit of power on gas
i bailed gas inj no one could give me a guarantee that they can tune it properly in perth anyways
First tank ...kms i got filling up cost me AU $66 and go 463 km thats with 2 long off road wheelin sessions
last tank was Au $66.some cents and a ice coffee and im on 546 km atm the red lights on now but its still driving normal, you know when it gets empty cos if you go full throttle itll cut out
So i should pump 600km out of it if i dont go off road

what sort of kms are you diesel cruisers getting and how much to fill up roughly?
