I also started to clean up the compressor bracket. It has a crack in it and will need to be welded. I'll save that for tomorrow.

Dave - Do you know what cased your Vintage Air 15465-VTB bracket to crack?

Don't know for sure. Could be due to vibrations, bad welds, material defect, or a loose bolt. Having all that mass cantilevered out to the right of the mounting bolts doesn't help.

Damn, I've been neglecting this thread and the 40. Just have a ton of stuff going on with work and my new shop project. The shop is done and is waiting on the final inspection from the city of Austin. The interior will be left unfinished due trying to stay within budget, but I'll slowly finish it out over time.

My new shop (Dave's Cruiser Lab) is a 28x32 two bay garage with a loft for storage. The loft area should help to keep all the crap out of workshop area downstairs.

I did manage to get a couple of small things done on the 40.

New winch bumper I bought locally from Lee (@Sea Knight).

I realized that I didn't have the bumper gussets and ordered some brand new ones. They were under $20 from Toyota!

I also decided to Raptor line the firewall a light grey. This will help with some noise/temps...I hope.

I also put new 3M seam sealer on the body in hopes of getting it back onto the rolling frame to get painted!

I also scored a nice powder coated dented side cover so I can use a newer FJ60 electronic dizzy.

I kept getting buzzed by wasps while I was working on the cover and finally found where they were hiding! A quick trip to Lowe's for some wasp spray and they're gone.

I almost forgot. I got a smoking deal on new Skyjacker M95 monotube shocks!

Dented side cover will be handy with the FJ60 dizzy and looks great coated. I did notice that your front shocks have very little shaft showing in the picture, planning on lifting?

Good eye. Yes, I'll be installing a Hell Creek 3-4" lift (also from Lee @Sea Knight).

Just had the final inspection done and the shop PASSED!!!!!! Man, that's a load off my back. Next up, getting some epoxy down on the floors before I can move the 40 (and other crap) into the shop.

S-W-E-E-T! Congrats. Getting that C.O. is like receiving a Birthday Gift when it isn't your Birthday! ....NICE.

I designed a shop similar to yours for a guy who restores old Chevy's, complete with a Bar & Loft. The bar has all vintage elements, signs, jukebox, posters, neon, flooring, furniture and even a soda dispenser that worked. We left out half the loft so he could install his lift, which his prize '57 Chevy rest upon with his '67 Vet below.

I would have loved to have been able to do that, but I had a shoestring budget! I might get a low rise lift like a Max Jack, but that's way down on the list.
