Me and the Missus are heading up there this long weekend. (In hopes of getting her to consider moving there...)

I haven"t been there since the early 90s when I saw Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and the
Chili Peppers at UVM.

I'm def hitting Nectar's.

What should we def do?

Thanks

-Mac

And where were you this weekend?
We put a plaque out on the trail showing where
your Cruiser met its match!
We were hoping you'd be there to say a few words!

I'm cringing now just recalling the sound of that grinding... :steer:

There's a lot of decent restaurants and bars in that open mall/marketplace thing downtown. Just head in on the main drag and park along the street somewhere. You can walk to just about anything. Burlington is a fun town.

Well.....

The church street marketplace in downtown is cool to walk around..
Higher ground left Winooski and is now in South Burlington...on Williston Road toward the airport.
Meals? Best dinners...try Single Pebble, LaMonte....best pub food...try American Flatbread or Halversons
Cheap ethnic food....Vietnamese food in Winooski is fantastic
Best breakfasts....try Penny Cluse in downtown Burlington (opens at 8am...long lines by 8:15am)
Fun waterfront...try the Echo Center
Cool hiking...go to Stowe, end up on the river walking path adn have some beer/wine along the way...

Hope that helps...

as for hiking, do hunger mountain. It is all day, though.

I like RiRas pub for a quick pint. Leunigs on church has a great breakfast as well.

Scenic spin down route 100?

Single pebble is really good, as stated above.

Penny Clues is by FAR the best b-fast place in New England...I love that place.
Also if you need any camping gear, check out the Out door gear xchange...my favorite gear shop
As for coffee shops, you gotta hit up Common Grounds (right on church st) awsome roasts...

have fun!

and go to sevendaysvt.com to see what is going on. Like our boston pheonix, but not quite as kinky.

What about cool places to stay in area - close to Burlington?

(Sorry to hijack, macneill)

I'm taking the wife north on the 25/26th and we're considering Burlington, so this thread is timely...

Would like to stay in the <$200/night range (though would consider slightly higher if there's something worth it).

There's always Stowe VT, which is about 45min from Burlington.

The Von Trapp Family lodge, and Top Notch are really nice resorts...

I would highly recommend looking at the Willard Street B and B, or the Lang House...both are within walking distance to downtown Burlington and quite well regarded.

Much cheaper, but clean and accessible is the Ethan Allen Motel near the airport. The room rates are low....as it is a motel not a B and B.

Good luck

Thanks!! I'll check them out - exactly what I was looking for.

Thought you were sleeping in the back of the 62?

I'd totally do that, but I'm not sure the burlington police are that laid back about folks car camping on the street!

I'm still trying to convince the :princess: we need to get a RTT. Then we really could sleep in/on the 62!

Thanks for all the tips. Wife had to work the past two weekends, so we're headed up this weekend.

Probably too late for leap-peeping though.

So if you see NY plates, don't flip me off!

The Hilton and the Marriott Courtyard are right on the lake and are a couple blocks from the bars and stores. They are about $200. Hot tub.....

Had problems finding places that took dogs. We really wanted a nice B&B, but ended up at the Sheraton. $118 including tax. It's only a place to crash and take showers anyway.

My family and I were in Burlington last weekend. We had a great time, and the view of the lake from the Hilton is great. The first thing the kids did was run and look out the window every morning. We are looking forward to moving there this winter.
