I talked tour mechanic today and got clarification on the diesel not starting backpressure thing...
Old worn out diesels with low compression need back pressure to build "false" compression, once it warms up that is no longer needed and it will run with low compression.
He said it is a trick with old tractors, stationary and marine engines with sticky rings, worn out cylinder walls etc.

So I was not 100% correct.
