considered that, but have quite a bit of work to get done on the 40, including a new front axle....getting great mileage with the DMax and gooseneck tho, keeping speeds under 70 does wonders!

I'm glad the trip is going good.

I have front Dana 44's laying around as well as a few GM 10 bolts and a Corporate 14. I also have stock FJ40 and FJ60 axle assemblies here. I doubt you are running stock stuff though. I have a fully equipped shop (less a plasma cutter, tube bender and lathe).

He already has the spare housing and a bunch of bling parts sitting in his shop. Hell, he could have rebuilt most of the cruiser in my (mom's) front yard on Monday.

I kinda think he wanted to actually be in his own bed for a while ;)

WTF was he gonna do with a 10 bolt or a D44???

:flipoff2:

D300 + 4:1 gears + heavy duty outputs = poor mans's atlas. He squeaked when he built that 40. There really is hardly any money in it. Good parts where needed but no bling. And yeah, cheddarhead in the snow in shorts. It's in the water around here.

I squeek when I build everything....function over form, every time...

have a front housing already cut and turned in the shop, just need welder time...Six-Shooter knuckles with 4x4 Labs histeer going in as well...with the existing 30-spline Longfields, it should be 'relatively' bulletproof for my light rig.

Back on the road Nov 1, meeting RonQ in Moab, then SEMA, then SnT, then Hammers on a Monday and Tuesday, followed by either BAJA or Clayton OK....I'll be better prepared for v0.2, may even bring pants this time :flipoff2:

(SWEET pics too, thanks for getting those up!)

A Friend of mine Spotted you on I-70 on his way back from moab. he said,"i saw a GMC towing an FJ40 that looked just like yours, but with way more dents". Let me know if you want to stop in and run Independence on the way through CO..

WAY more...

not sure I have time this run for extra trails...wanna be home for Halloween, then out the next morning...

CO trails are on the list, and I'll be traveling a LOT next year ;)

If I do, it'll be on a part-time basis for 2009...been tough not being home this year, and hard to keep up with the site when the schedule is that hectic...

22 degrees isn't cold enough for woody to wear pants
