Right on!
Glad he did well on the ride and love the name too.

Took him to meet dr ford (yesterday). He's a happy healthy puppy w/ out any issues.
All the excitement over the last coue days... He slept quite a bit throughout the day. Had ZERO potty accidents and were making a great effort trying to train him to do his biz. In one place in the yard and it's going surprisingly well.
He LOVES his kennel!!! When he's tired, he just walks in there ON HIS OWN and goes RIGHT to sleep.

Were having a blast!!!

Started w/ treat training and I'm gonna get him out and about today in the shop w/ me around the rig and maybe for a ride in the rig (just on the streets).
Doc said that forth next few weeks, is when the socialization is going to be most important, cuz most anything that happens in this time will seem normal to him and easy for training.

What a cute pup!

Thanks man!!!
He's a nice looking lil man!!

Well he was a bit Nervous around the 40!!!
Guess I'm gonna have to ease him into that a bit!!
Had him sit in the driver seat w/ me. Let him check it out a bit.

I have a 5-6 month old lab mix puppy who's not too sure about my cruiser either. I took her for a little test ride yesterday around the pasture and she bailed as soon as she could :( I think I'm going to have to put the top and doors on it and take her a few fun places to get her use to the idea it goes fun places.

It probably smells different.

When your rig begins to smell like you and less like 90w and new paint, they will be less nervous.

Put your coat in the 40 when you are wrenching on your rig, let him sleep in your coat.

I put my dogs in the 40 or 60 when I'm in the garage.

I also take them places they love in the 40, so they associate "fun" with it. For example, I take them to go to the pond to swim or to a big open field to play ball. So that type of stuff, plus the treat training (treat him when he gets in the 40) will help a ton. He'll come around.

That is great it is going so well. Yeah, socialization is HUGE. Get him socialized with people and other dogs, but be choosy about the other dogs. Sometimes you get a bunch of idiot owners and dogs with zero training at dog parks.

From my experience some of the best dog socialization has been at dog training classes in a group setting as well as off leash trails. Most of the off leash trails here are not like an off leash dog park.
You have to have a dog that listens and obeys at an off leash trail. Obviously your pup isn't ready for an off leash trail yet, but just throwing that out there for future reference...in the even you even have off leash trails there.

We have to wait till he gets his next round of shots before we can start taking him to classes, but you're right!!! We did the classes w/ gunner and took him to the dog parks... He was a great dog and I think that helped. W/ that experience, we plan on doing the classes again!!!
Strarted putting him on a leash... Like wrangling a trout!!! He was starting to think this was HIS SHOW!!! lol!!

Been getting him in the rig and getting used to it.
We sat in there today for a while together. He seemed much more comfortable. He hopped over in my lap and I eventually started it. He did pretty well w/ it.
I then put him in the back. Like d animal said... I stuck my jacket back there for him to lay on... Made a HUGE difference!!!!
He even laid down and just chilled on it!!! :)
I'll take him for a lil ride this weekend!! :)

Oh yeah...
Since I'm so proud!! :)

That is one cute pup dude...he's gonna be a big one! Look at that noggin!

Very cute dog. I agree he is going to be big, he has some big paws already.

It sounds like you know what your doing with training...

Thanks gents!!! :)
Seems that my concerns about him having fear riding in the truck may have been squelched...
Menand the wife took him out on some desert roads by the house... Nothing too crazy, but really rutted and washed out... He was FINE!! fearless actually!!!
We came across some wild mustangs (very common here) and he got to meet one. NO BS, they were NOSE TO NOSE!!! I missed the pic, but I got one after they were done checking eachother out!!! Very cool!!
