I just wanted to stop by to introduce myself to the Ga Cruiser/Toyota fans. I am getting out the US Marine Corps and will be moving to Newnan, Ga in a few weeks. I have a job lined up at the Atlanta airport as the ground support equipment manager, the position is the same as my job in the USMC. I didn't want to live in the Atlanta metro area and everyone I've talked to said that Newnan was a nice area. My wife and I were in Newnan last weekend to look at houses with our realtor and we are making a offer a house out in the country.

A little about myself, I'm 34 years old and I'm from SC. During my time in the US Marines I've lived in Yuma, Az, Jacksonville, Fl, and Beaufort, SC. I've been on many vacations to sunny, hot, and cold places while working for Uncle Sam. I'm married and we have a 7 year old daughter and 2 dogs/1 cat. I've had a few 4wd's in the past to include a 89 Jeep Wrangler, 91 Ford Ranger (ARB locked), 91 FJ80 (my first 4wd Toyota), 84 Pickup, 89 4Runner, 88 4Runner (current daily driver), and a 91 4Runner (currently not running). I have enjoyed everyone of those vehicles and actual miss all of them besides for the Heep. My current daily driver is the 88 4Runner which I bought not running for $700 and had planned on selling after I cleaned it up and had it running. I decided to keep it as a daily drive to allow me to save money because I wasn't sure how hard it was going to be to find a job after getting out of the USMC. My 91 4Runner is my offroader, it's been wheels up a couple of times and has a good bit of work done to it. Currently the 3.0L V6 is dead and I have almost everything I need to swap a Chevy 4.3 with a 4L60E trans. Yes I know it's a Chevy engine and I should go with a Toyota 3.4L but I got a great deal on the 4.3L.

Other then the Toyota hobby, I have a KTM 450 EXC that's street legal and a Yamaha FZ6 that I use to fight the man on gas prices. We also have kayaks and love to go camping.

I look forward to wheeling with you guys as much as I can. If anyone is from the Newnan area or nearby areas PM me, I want to know if there are any places local to go wheeling.

Here's some pics of my current 4Runner's.

Steven

welcome to the area we look forward to seeing you at a meeting. Thanks for your service.

welcome to the area. This aint the most talkative bunch but we wheel a lot. I'd say we're actually one of the most active clubs around as far as activities are concerned so come on out.

Thanks I do look forward to meeting everyone and wheeling together. I just to need to get my 91 4Runner running again, she's been down for almost 2 years. I hate seeing her like this but I just haven't had the time to mess with a engine swap. I'm glad that the house we are trying to buy in Newnan has a nice size garage and no HOA.

Welcome to GA!

Might want to PM Raventia (sp?) he use to work for Delta and live around there.

Cool, thanks. I'll be working right down the road from Delta. We've made our offer on a house in Newnan and now we just have to wait to see if they take it.

We made another offer on a house, only this one is in Sharpsburg. It's closer to the Atl Airport then the other but it's in a sub division. The good thing is from what I saw while riding around the sub division, the HOA doesn't mind people working on their vehicles or storing trailers/boats in the back yard.

The USMC is taking their time to get all my paper work signed off for me to get out. So it looks like I'll will not be in Ga till mid Sept.

Well the counter offer for the house in Sharpsburg came in and it's really good but for some freaking reason my wife doesn't want the house that was her top choice.

Semper Fi

Looks like I'm going to be renting either a small apartment or a loft/basement in someones house for a few months. The house hunting isn't going that good, well I've actual found a lot of houses that I liked but my wife changes her mind about them. So the search goes on....

Thanks for the welcome, Steven

I'll be in Atlanta on Mon and Tues next week.

I know this post is months old, but I wanted to welcome you to Newnan! That is if you were able to find a home here. I've lived here all my life, I'm 32. I bought a 85 FJ60 a couple of weeks ago and have been gradually working on it since then. Maybe we'll pass by each other on the road sometime!

I have been in Newnan since 27 Sept 2011. I was renting a place downtown for a couple of months and I just closed on our new house, over never Cannon Gate. I don't have my 4Runner's here yet, they are still in SC. I bought a 07 Tundra and I also upgraded my street bike to a KTM Super Duke 990, I have been enjoying Ga. Can't wait to get my 4Runner's here and the 91 4Runner trail ready again.

Well, if you see a white 60 with 33" Mikey Thompsons, a 4" lift kit, and a larger front and rear bumper on it that would be me.
