This isn't really "Wow" work or anything...it's actually kind of embarrassing wanna-be fabrication. I'm sharing for the general concept and somewhat ease of success, and because I would have liked to read/see it done before I did it. More contributions to the Mod Madness nicely packaged and organized here on Mudd for the enjoyment us sick ones.

May I now feed your addiction...

Since I had the power steering system drained for the rack replacement, I thought I'd play around with my idea to shift the reservoir.

Before:

GUTTED: I moved the ABS wire by splicing in a length. You can see it in the bottom corner of the engine bay running across the center of the picture (black line). I move the un-used harness of weird plugs and zip-tied them to the side:

Okay master fabricators...don't pick on me here. I made this using only a sheet of metal, jigsaw, grinder, metal hammer, block of wood and a table vise. A drill too. It took me two tries to get the angles right. The stupid PS res. bracket mounts at three different levels. I shifted it about 3 1/4 inches. I'm sure when I get better skills and tools in the future I'll redo it. As everything for me...a work in progress.

The metal is not thick, 16 gauge I think, but it is way strong enough. I pushed and pulled on it and it does not move. I put folds in it in the right spots to make is strong by geometry.

Reservoir installed and plumbed. For those that cringed at my dual battery install, have no fear...No stock parts were injured in the making of this project. Plug and play (other than lengthening one wire)

Now...what its all about...the reward for my efforts.

I am going to buy, modify, or build a cradle or box that will fit 9 quarts of oil containers. If I build my own, I will probably be able to fit two more in the lower part (tapered bottom).

3 wide:

times 3 long: (EDIT: i know it looks like the hose is touching the exhaust manifold in this picture, but it's pretty far away from it. There are other hoses in stock position closer.)

HINDSIGHT MEMO:
As I practice my fabrication skills working toward the custom cradle, I may explore rotating the reservoir 90 degrees. That will take a whole new approach for the bracket, but I may also build the bracket into the box so it's one easy install. This is just Version 1.0.

I put a second battery in my 200, so I can appreciate your work to move the PS reservoir. Toyota did plant that thing right in the middle of some otherwise useful space. Nice fab job!

What's all the oil for? I don't have a second battery, but I have thought about using a Slee battery tray and battery box in this area to hold tools. What I really want is a WagonGear tailgate lid...

For trail emergencies. Should be able to have a little bit of every type of oil needed.

I did a dual battery set up in the stock location so I could keep this spot clear for this project.

maybe already answered but are you never thinking about a second battery in your truck? That is about the best place for a back up battery and dual charging system.

how do you do them in STOCK LOCATION...there is barely any room for the single battery much less two of them....would like to see the pics if you dont mind.

sorry to hijack...

I figured someone would ask about the duals in stock location.

Here is the thread. Careful if your squeemish...I did have to modify stock to make it work. lol! "butcher" it actually, ha!

Maybe I'm wrong here but seems like it would be easier to put two large batteries where the PS was and put the oil up in the original battery location...

Still I like the bracket, I really noticed what a poor placement the original spot is when I was changing the fluid the other day.
