Hey guys, I've been a lurker here for a long time, but this is my 1st post. I have used the sight to get parts vendor info and do some repairs and such. I have a 97 LX450 with 258K on the clock, the truck only sees winter action now after being my daily beast since I bought it with 20K on the odo. I love this truck and my friends joke with me that I will be buried in it.

I stored the vehicle for the summer and just got it out today for a pre-fall once over. I turned on the interior vent fans and to my dismay, out comes a ton of ripped up shop rags and paper ... I have or had a mouse.

I was hoping someone could help explain to me or provide a link of how to access and remove the main switching box and blower motor for the interior vents. So far all other systems check out, so I'm hoping there was no wiring damage and I see no signs of the rodent having been in the cabin area ... keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

That is a big job!

If it were were me I'd CAREFULLY remove the vents (very easy to break the nubs on each side that hold them in) and shove the vacuum hose in as far as you can. If you are lucky you will get everything. Maybe remove the duct work under steering wheel as well.

You could also look under the wiper cowl and check for a nest there too.

Blower motor is mounted behind glove box ..easy enough to get out , just remove the glove box front & a few more screws will have the blower motor out .

After you remove the blower motor tape some plastic bags to the dash over the vents , then block the main vent coming from the blower motor with something (rag etc.) with a compressor with a blower attachment see if you can blast any crap out toward the vent.
If it does get stuck behind the vent , remove vent & vacuum out any remaining s***.
