Hey all, I'm lengthening my lower links on my lx and was wondering if anyone has mounted links to the trans crossmember? It's not a stock crossmember, it's creepers skid made from 1/4" plate

If you can remove the skid plate independently from the fixed crossmember, that would be an ideal mount for your upper links. Tie your lower links to the frame. Definitely do not mount any links to where you have to remove the skid plate. Pics would help to see how much space you're working with.

It's all one piece, attached by 4 bolts on each side

It seems the easiest way to package it all together as one piece until you have to make a hefty trail repair. I initially designed my '73 40's lower links to the skid till I had to spend an afternoon wrestling w/ multiple jackstands on an off camber trail fixing my transfer case. I promptly redesigned the lower links tied to the frame when I got home.

Thanks all for the replies, I ended up welding to the frame, I didn't want to risk ripping off the crossmember
