Mothballing my 200

Hey Guys,

I'm leaving for a 3 month trip in May and will not be taking my 200. (I'm taking the 100 though.) It'll be stored in my garage. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the proper way to mothball it so it's fine when I return. I'm not even sure I would need to do anything at all other than fill the tank so no condensation forms.

Thoughts?

I am thinking that 3 months is not long enough to really do anything. It will be interesting to see what others think.

I agree, not necessary to do anything special. I'd top up the gas tank to avoid condensation and make sure the tires are up to pressure - maybe 5psi more than stock, just to make myself feel better - make sure it's parked indoors or in the shade, but nothing else I can think of.

OK, maybe you could put a trickle battery maintainer on the battery, and pull the wiper blades away from the windshield ...

If you can't trickle-charge the battery...you could just disconnect one terminal to avoid an earlier death of an already-weak battery...

Yep, full tank and trickle charger would be my vote.

Not to revisit an old subject but trickle chargers are not all the same. Some will cook your battery. Go for something 'smart' and Battery Tender is merely one example. I usually have 6-8 going in the winter and have never had an issue. Good ones will take care of gels or lithium race batteries as well.

What would it take to pickle a 200 for 12 months? There is a chance that I'll head out for a year and need to preserve the truck during that time. What steps should I think about?

7 of my cars are driven either once a year or once every two years

All on battery tender
Full tank of gas
And stabil in it

Nothing else

No issues in 7 years of doing this

I would replace the oil before leaving it for 3 months.

I always use Sea Foam instead of Stabil when I store my 60 for the winter. I use it in all my combustable engines.

I put cocaine in my AMG's fuel tank when I'm on vacation. Don't want them falling asleep and getting lazy.
