I'm thinking about doing mojave road in about a mouth. It would just be my friend and I in an fj80. Anybody want to join? I don't want to run the entire thing solo at this point. I'm thinking we would start may 18 if anybody is interested. We would start on the Arizona side.

If anybody has experience with this trail I would like to get some advice on it. I have never ran a trail like this before so it's a new experience and I don't want to mess it up because that could be a very bad situation. Especially do something as stupid as not bringing enough fuel and water. My fj80 is also not exactly built for really extreme off road either. I have decent 31s a stock lift and a rear locker but I think that should be plenty for this road. We are also still thinking about this so we may end up not going or the date might change. we will see.

Just having done the Mojave Road I can say that you will have no trouble with a stock 80. The trail is quite easy but navigation could be trouble. Get Dennis Casebier's guide book and follow his maps carefully. We did the portion from MP 0 to 122 ending at Afton Canyon Campground. Some sources say the trail is not marked but that's not accurate. Frequent rock cairns and sign posts are helpful but DO get the guidebook.

^true. Biggest challenge will be navigation and having enough time to see everything. Do some research. There are a buttload of interesting threads out there.

x3. Get the Dennis Casebier guidebook and a gps if you are concerned about navigation. The guidebook has all necessary way points, along with descriptions. Plus he has historical tidbits interspersed with the route description. It is worth every cent. Bring lots of water. There are points along the road where you can get to civilzation fairly easily.
