So any one who has had to access the radiator fan, belts, water pump, etc on a 70 series might know what I am talking about. It's a huge PITA. I think I may have a solution besides just removing it all together. The fan shroud is a two piece part with 8 or so spot welds holding them together. The plan is to drill the spot welds and replace with nuts and bolts. This should allow the shroud to be separated into two pieces. Potentially allowing easier removal. I'll make sure to add some pictures if this works.

Good timing! I've been fighting with a couple stuck bolts on my BJ74, making a simple belt change a real pain. So far all belts are unchanged and the skin on my knuckles has seen better days.

Also I find the shroud very easy to remove
I was the same so I cut my shroud into 2 halves, where they join up I used sheet metal tags and pot rivet them on so they make a guide abet like male female joint ,top section is bolted in the normal place to the radiator. So easy for cleaning out the radiator when fill of mud etc. Cheers.

There is a write up in the 60's section that describes splitting the fan shroud. Easy mod that makes removal easier which came in very handy while trying to find a mysterious leak...
