Heya all, few things I am looking to mod on my FJ. 1st I would like to level it out mainly just for aesthetic looks. 2nd I want to improve the suspension for a better ride and less body lean on turns and such. I use the FJ mostly for every day driving but like to occasionally go off roading for fun. I dont need anything top dollar or baja style. Any thoughts or suggestions for a good combo or parts?

if you are just going for looks on the lift you could go with a spacer lift like revtec or rough country...if you wanted a little step up you could go with the OME 3in lift, the lift that will give it the best ride would be a coil over system, but that will get pricey. hope this helps

You can accomplish both #1 and #2 at once by replacing your front coils with OME 883 springs.

a spacer lift only offers height, and can actually make your handling worse since you raise the ride height without any change in spring rate. And if you do go that route, some are better designed than others....spacers should NOT be wedged inside the existing coilover, but space down the mounting point.

Increased spring rate from OME or some other lift is a better choice, but more expensive....

suggest you find some local folks with various lifts installed and schmooze your way into a test drive/ride...that's the only true way to see what's best for you.

I talked to the guys at Toytec and the guy suggested the front adjustable bilstien shocks. He said it would level the rig and improve the ride and that it would work with the stock springs. It sounds good has anyone tried this? I plan to visit a local off road parts place as well.
