I have never been this far east in my life and I was just wondering what the terrain is like here? Is there much rock crawling or is it all muddin'? From what I've heard, the trails are mudd and tight with lots of trees that'll give me some nice pin stripping:eek:

Thanks,
Angelo

Its rocky. Nothing like the west coast mountains though. The rocks are smaller and loose and move around. They can be mud or moss covered making everything slick.

There are also these things we call trees that tend to jump out and hit the side of your truck if your not careful. :D

There isn't a whole lot of open OHV land to wheel on here, most of it is off road parks. Before 9/11 we used to be able to go wheeling on Ft Leonard Wood property but not since.

The only off road park I've ever been to was old Katemcy Rocks in TX. That was fun but the start and end point was the same so there wasn't to much adventure... I am use to wheeling out in CO and UT so I don't really know what to expect here..

So FLW property is closed for public use? Would that mean that I and a few close Mud buddies couldn't go and explore some FLW property? I don't know if you could answer that.

Not sure now. I haven't tried. There are plenty of non paved roads to explore in the Mark Twain National Forest but not really many wheeling spots.

The parks are a pretty good time.

Washita in Farmington, MO
Flatnasty in Salem, MO (Owned by a Toyota guy and probably only a 45 minute drive for you)
SMORR in Seymour, MO
Superlift Hot Springs, AR

I think there is some public land in Disney Oklahoma that is suppoesed to be a good wheeling spot and a few in Kansas but all of the ones I listed above are in the Ozark Mountains and have all types of terrain. Look for some videos on Youtube for footage of all of those parks.

I rode around flatbasty with MoJ in his 80 and Toyminator and his 4runner. We didn't get into any trees that day that I can remember. Flatnasty is nice and it has everything from mudholes to some pretty dang hairy rock trails.

Sweet, it sounds like Flatnasty will be the first place I hit up after my lift is installed! Is anyone going to be able to go to Flatnasty some time in January?

Thanks,
Angelo

From what I've seen of his truck he won't have any trouble on any of the trails we rode that day. Unless they have became a bit more rough since then.
