All the Sniper data reads showed it was getting a vacuum leak and the Sniper was over fueling to compensate.

None of the other External fixes worked. Has to be internal.

The fact it did it with 2 snipers and a carburetor points that way at least
Sounds like you got it on the way to being figured out. Hope you get it running good soon.

I’m just sorry it took me so many hours …. And still is.

It’s pulled. I can’t see anything wrong with it but I did not think it would be obvious.

Now it’s loaded in the 200 with a 1FZ block.

That Dobinsons drawer is tough

Are those a beehive style spring? Never seen those in an F/2F. Wonder if there’s Chevy valves. (Sorry if this was addressed already and I missed it).

This is a Mosley Cop motor. Chevy LS valves with a high flow head. They let you keep pulling HP to redline and beyond

Well that makes sense. I read way too many threads on here and can’t keep them straight anymore.

Where we left off on this 💩

Can’t believe it was May…..

So I took the head to @FJ60Cam and he took it to his head builder who immediately saw that the head had a crack near one of the valves and the vacuum leak once it got hot would have been a sure thing.

Since we like to blame @ducksntrout for everything, this probably happened back in the day when he had 4.11 gears and liked to drive it 75 to the duck camp on the interstate for 3 hours.

We know it began around then and progressively just got worse and worse.

Sometime in June or early July the head was back and so was the JimC carburetor.

I’ve been on a tear since then building another FJ40 so now is the first time I’ve had to get back on this turd.

So, if this does not work I’m burning it.

Real talk.

Did they repair or replace the head? Could (can) you see the crack?

I numbered these too….not sure if that matters.

Rocker installed. Got to get more installed so I can bump the starter to get the valves adjusted. Remflex and a 60 series intake with a new OEM heat shield.

Topped it with the JimC carb. I’ve got to figure out the throttle. Of course all of the linkage is gone but I had a cable on Patina. If not I’ll scrounge up the linkage parts.

don't burn it @wngrog, send her up North!

So, if this does not work I’m burning it

I've been there a few times, replacing soft tops on Miata, swapping out FJ60 heater core, this one is still ongoing.

I woke up with a positive attitude. Went to the gym. Grocery. Had lunch with Red and walked up to the Beast at noon.

I rigged up a pretty good throttle cable using the Weber cable, bracket and pedal.

I added a Fusable link when I realized it did not have one.

OEM fuel pump added.

Added the plugs. Thermostat housing. Hoses. PCV

I’m rolling.

Then I look down and see this

So I sent a picture to the Wizard. Those of you that don’t follow my other builds may not know who the Wizard is. He’s a Tig master. He Builds the stainless exhausts. He’s the wizard.

He came over. Stomped. Screamed. Said no way. He has to have it off the truck and in his shop with 220…. Blah Blah. Basically he thew a fit.

I said look a this thing.

Just look. Take a breath and see what I’m asking.

So he grabbed a Coke and a fist full of Trail Mix and dove in

And he fixed it. No new Remflex gasket needed. All pretty.

Tomorrow we get this thing some gas…..
