The battery cables did not make it so I hooked up the old ones to get the tuning started.

150 mile test loop today with this great cool snap we are having. No chance I could have done this the last two weeks here in Mississippi. Nothing fell off. I’ll call that a win.

Got a big Beno box to finish off this project.

OEM battery tray/holder
OEM wiper blades
Koito headlights
OEM air filter

The owner tried LEDs in the past but something about the Beast did not like the ones we tried. He went back to halogen bulbs in KC housings so not only do the Koito look way way better, those that use them now they have a great clean low and high beam.

Finally I replaced the white white bezel I put on it years ago and replaced it with a proper

nice work on this rig.
 
Having to do some tuning on this guy and the weather cooled off finally so I can stand driving it.

Every time I get it in it seems like something else breaks.

This time it started running like crap. Got home and the exhaust gasket blew out. With the O2 sensor right next to it that’s not good. Makes it very unhappy.

Interesting. I sent this pic to @FJ60Cam and he compared it to a propane bottle getting cold.

@wngrog Sorry for the ignorant Q - I notice the vacuum advance diaphragm still has the cap on it. Do the DUI distributors not use vacuum advance on the 2F? I have one on the bench to install, and assumed that the vacuum advance would still be utilized. The DUI distributor will be used in conjunction with a Mark A rebuilt carb on my '80 2F.
 
What’s drawing all that amperage?

And dang, your gas is cheap.

Sorry. I did that pic while I was setting the timing. That and the Sniper port are capped for the procedure

That gauge does not work. Look at the Sniper readout. It’s got an internal regulator 60 series 55 watt one wire setup.

I noticed you use the DUI's on all of your builds. This one was interesting because you had the JimC recurved but then eventually changed. The dizzy on my 60 is shot and I'm trying to decide what to do. I'd like to keep it as mechanical as possible ala carburetor+distributor but not sure I want to go through the pain of finding parts for my existing dizzy or buying a new one and sending it off to be recurved. Any thoughts you have are appreciated. Love your style by the way, I enjoy the "beat up" look as well. Sort of a dinosaur sleeper LOL. Cheers!

Correct. The 2300 has two ports. Of is specific for the vac advance. The 2GC had only one in the front and it’s for vac advance

What technique did you master on the surfaces that aren’t flat to reduce streaking? I can’t seem to get it right.

I like to eliminate all the old stuff I can on these to streamline tuning and and running issues. Never know what’s happening in a 35 year old part.

The verticals are hard to keep streaks out of
