Hello. I'm in Newport, RI for a Navy school until September and would like to meet some Cruiser-heads. Is there anyone out here in my neck of the bay?

Also, is there anyone in the market for a Vortec powered FJ60 with a nice FJ40 or 45 for trade?

I hope to meet some of you folks...

Jon

you are surrounded by some sketchy guys- the 2 Jasons and Fox-good luck

hey Jon
I am one of the above mentioned Jason's I work on base. what schoolare you in? SWOS? justic school? there is an early red fj40 and a blue fj60 that I have been seeing lately on the NWC compound is one of them yours? ther are also a handful of fjcruisers on base one flat black and the other with a camo vehicle wrap.
I drive the white and blue fj45lv.
Jason

Hey Jason, I'm at SWOS and drive a silver 60. I, too, have seen the blue 60 driving around. He's always parked over by the supply school.

We'll have to meet up sometime and track those other guys down.

And if you wanna get off the island for a bit, you can come to North Kingstown and we can all fix whatever is usually broken on fogblankets fj45lv. Beer might be involved. Welding is a definite too.

Fox, another misplaced West Coaster stuck in New England indefinitely.

I'll be glad to come to Kingstown, and I'll even bring some suds...of the west coast variety, of course. I've got a line on some Rogue Dead Guy and am glad to share! Name the day...

I have no idea what fox is talking about wilma is a fine flinstone machine. I type this while i sit in a tire shop getting a plug patched and a bead reseated. Typical me i tell them that the rear right has the plug they get the tire off and can t find a plug seems the plugged tire is the rear right :)
I guess since i was born in l La Jolla i am a misplaced west coaster as well

Welcome. I'm the other Jason that Gary mentioned. However, I'm about 45 minutes north of Newport over in Pawtucket. And as every Rhode Islander knows if its over 20 minutes away you need to pack an over night bag and make hotel reservations.

Haha...thanks for the welcome, fellas!

I've been driving my rig for the last couple of days since its been raining. Today, I saw that 40 sitting in the lot by the gym and noticed if has War College stickers. I also saw the blue 60-series driving the other day and stopped him. He says it's a 61, and I got a face full of smoke as he drove away. :) He lives in my hood apparently, so I gave him my number and hope to have a beer with him soon.

Anyway, anytime you folks want to get together, let me know. I'm alone and unafraid over here with nothing to do. I hope to see some of you soon.

Glad you found us,

We are currently accepting applications;)

Our schedule is posted and hope to see you on the trail.

Where is this schedule thing you speak of?!

Great, thanks! Looking at availability for the 19th. Do I need to do some kind of membership dance if I want to go on a run? I'm here until September.

Sorry, one more question, do I need an ohv sticker for my street legal cruiser? Thanks again!

Yes, unfortunately it's a liability thing.
Our dues are the cheapest around at $30 though and you also get a membership to the NEA4WDC http://nea4wd.org/ as well. A parent organization that works with towns and private landowners to continue to grant us use of trails.
Also gets you a YT Tshirt and whatever donated and left over swag I have around that's been littering up my office!

You can find more information on joining here - http://yankeetoys.wordpress.com/join/

I'm in, and will just need to arrange a way to make payment/registration. I also added a question about an ohv pass to my it's above.

So there is a new MA OHV law that you can read on about in the 5/19 thread.
We are not enforcing this but we want to make everyone aware of the law and they can make their own decision.
Yes, even if your vehicle is street legal you need this sticker to wheel private land.
Yes, I'm well aware this state is broken.

As far as your membership, if you make the 5/19 meet you can just print the .pdf fill it out and bring your payment to the meet and we can process it from there.

I'm not going to criticize your state. Who am I to judge? I'll see what I can do about making that run and let you know. Thanks for the info, and I look forward to meeting you.

On the way into school this morning, I saw a REALLY nice red 40 parked in the grass across the street from Coddingtons. Does anyone know who that might belong to?

Anyone down for an adult beverage or two today or tomorrow? It's beautiful out there!

I figured I'd go ahead and throw a link to my truck's build thread in here for those who want to see it. I'm looking forward to making a couple trips with the club this summer and hope you'll flag me down or come and talk if you see me out and about.
