Hey guys.
I've seen a thread about upgrading the dash lights and switches to LED bulbs elsewhere here on MUD. I'm not going that route just yet, but I have a issue regarding the mirror switch. The thread I saw showed the mirror switch was lit. I've gone around and changed 5-6 burned out bulbs in my dash, and in the process noticed that the bulb was actually missing in my mirror switch although there was an open hole to install it. The parts catalog (I work for the dealer) doesn't even list a bulb in that location at all. Okay whatever, I figured out the bulb that fit the switch and installed it today. The problem is that although I can see the light coming on from the back side of the switch, there is no illumination on the front side. Does anybody have any thoughts on this? I haven't checked yet to see if there are various mirror switch part #'s for different year 100 series, but it seems strange that the housing will accept a bulb that won't illuminate the front of the thing. I just don't get it.

They probably have a different switch cover in other vehicles that is translucent. They probably re-use the same body for many switches and therefore have a light socket that is not always used.

I can't even see my mirror switch behind the wheel and wouldn't know if it was lit or not, I just use feel. At night, the darker the interior the better IMHO. To that end on long dark drives I'll kill all the dash lights and then all I see is the speed on the scangauge and any warning lights that may pop up. Real easy on the eyes and I can see what's most important.

I guess it's not so important that it lights up. I can just as easily use it by feel. It was just something I noticed, and being the anal type that I am, I wanted it work correctly.

Thanks again guys!
