Windshield. What a pain in the... I don't know... lets go with neck... I ponied up for a factory mirror. It installed smoothly. No issues at all with that. Big Thanks to Beno. He's been tons of help.
Unfortunately the prior owner did some kind of wire whacking and cobbled together something to replace the OEM mirror with one of the rip-off's that can be found on the web. I say rip-off because they mounting bracket doesn't come close to matching the Toyota bracket. He kludged together a mess. It finally broke about 2 weeks after I bought the 100. I broke the windshield trying to remove the factory bracket, replaced the windshield, and guess what, the new windshield came with the factory bracket.
So I gave up and replaced the mirror with a factory mirror. Not a cheap option at all. Making this choice delayed a lot of other projects.
The mirror has it's own factory wiring plug. I don't know if the previous owner cut the OEM plug off and added the off brand connector or if he ran new wiring for the off brand mirror. I'm starting to suspect the latter. The power is on all of the time and it's only supposed to be on when the ignition is on.
So my next step is to see what's under the headliner. But I don't know how to go about looking under the headliner. It is my hope that the factory harness is still there.
Can I go through the panel where the overhead lights (front) are? If so how?
