Mirror cover replacement?

Hello, I replaced the mirror screws with the longer ones to eliminate the wobbly mirror issue and I cannot figure out how to replace covers. I already broke the tabs on the replacement that came with the kit and wanted to see if someone has some tips how to do this right.

Nobody has a tip? How did you guys replaced the screws without braking these tabs?
