I got it!!

It’s safely in the back of the ’80 right now. I can’t wait to take it wheeling, I might have to go home “sick” this afternoon. :D A big thanks to the tornado alley cruiser parcel service: osagecruiser, Mrs. Osagecruiser, and especially 66fj40x2 for attempting to break the diesel land speed record. All your efforts are greatly appreciated!

isn't breaking speed records part of having a badge?:D

:shotts:

:subect change::flipoff2:
Marc, how'd the Expedition do pull'n the trailer? You sure got a smok'n deal on that truck

Matt, Have you wore out the crawler yet? Those batteries last a real long time. They even have there own forum for mods and stuff..... google nylint forum.... pretty cool

Not yet. It ran for about 30 minutes when I pulled it out of the box. The first thing I did was drive it down the steps to my basement  the damn thing crawled down like a champ! I'm hooked! :D My next test was to go up--no go on the carpet but the concrete steps out front of my house were no problem..

The bad part is- my daughter is scared to death of it. It was all fun and games until I stuck her dora doll behind the wheel and she freaked out... I'm pretty sure dora had fun though.;p

Check out this forum. They cater to all R/C crawlers but have a separate forum for the Nylints.

Thanks for the link Kris! Damn, another hobby to obsess about...

Both batts are on the charger now, I can't wait to get home.

No problem.

If I remember I'll bring my crawler to the next event with a few batteries. It's not a Nylint, kind of cross between an X-factor and home built.

Ok, dam thing won't let me edit the above post. At any rate here is an old pic of my R/C crawler. There have been several changes but I haven't taken any new shots.

Gee thanks :flipoff2:

The next time you talk to Cramer ask him about my 40.

Mine had a soft top, no running boards, cut fenders and no 4-link:D. Oh yeah, smaller tires. I bet it's still running around the Twin Cities area.

Wow Kris that's pretty cool (and ahhh.....colorful...:flipoff2: ), where'd you find the 40 body? Are you running some kind of cantelever springs? post up some action shots if you have any.

I might have to start a mini crawler project this spring... the nylint works pretty good but I'm noticing the front belt is starting to slip when you need it most.

At one time Pro-line had the FJ-40 body but I think there were some issues between them and Toyota and it was dropped from the line up. You might get lucky on eBay.

I wish I had some action shots but I never bothered. I do need to take some pics in it's current state. If I remember I'll take a few today and post 'em up.

There should be some really good info on the RCCrawler site for tuning up the 1/8th scale truck and the belt issue may be one of them. I have one of the smaller versions and it didn't need much to make it work better. I lowered it by clipping a couple coils from the springs, trimmed the plastic links and swapped the front tires so they look backwards (kind of like the Poison Spider 1:1 buggy).

We should probably start a new thread but since Mike threw the Partridge family comment out, who cares. I'm pretty sure I never watched that show as a kid.

So I'm showing my age..... I showed the picture to other members of the house. The reactions where .... from Becca, from Debi and  from Holley .... but she's four (today by the way)

Happy Birthday Holley!!!! :princess:

I kind of expected those responses from the rest of the ladies. When I had my real 40 it was pretty much the same. Kids loved, most women thought it was ok and I was brave to drive it and guys hated it. It's all about being different. If I had painted it blue or mustard it would have looked like everyone else's 40.

Speaking of which...I asked Wendy about painting the 80 when I get a regular DD. I was surprised that she said yes to a Holstein cow paint job. Before Mike runs with the cow thing I will NOT go with a Jersey cow scheme, s*** brown is best reserved for 60 series :D

where should we start???
