A proposal has been presented to TLCA regarding a national midwest TLCA Open Event. I was on a 2 hour conference call last night with packman73 and others from TAC, GCC, TCC, and Cottonland cruiers, hashing out details of this event. Even though the Gateway Cruisers are not an offical TLCA chapter, your imput and help was certainly talk about and requested. The end result of this discussion is as follows;

Proposed TLCA Mid-Central Chapters Open Event for 2009

Several members of Tornado Alley Cruisers, Tall Corn Cruisers, Green Country Cruisers and Cottonland Cruisers have met and developed an idea for a collaborative Mid-Central States TLCA Open Event for Fall of 2009.

We are proposing that the event be held the last W-Su of September or the first W-Su in October. This event could be held every other year, with the normal chapter events being held on even years.

We are proposing that this event be held at SMORR (Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch) in 2009. This event could be held at other parks in the area (Flat Nasty, Hannibal Rocks, D-Day, Superlift, etc), should the event be done again.

We are proposing that the clubs join forces to form the event committee and sub-committees thus evening the load of putting on such a large event.

We are proposing that we do not limit what Toyota based clubs can be involved, we would like to see TTORA and FJC Clubs participating in this event as well.

We are proposing that the TLCA help us facilitate and coordinate our efforts in developing and promoting this event.

We are proposing that we make an effort to do some philanthropic project at or before the event as a group.

We are propsing that we market this as best we can, being inclusive in our efforts to reach not only the hardcore wheelers, but the folks that are new to this sport/hobby and even those that just want to come out and see what it's like and not necessarily wheel.

We are proposing that TLCA members would get a discount for early registration for this event.

We are proposing that part of the proceeds from the T-Shirt sales will be distributed between the Blue Ribbon Coalition and the Susan G. Koman Foundation

We are proposing that this is going to be a great event, that will not only bring our chapters together, but bring families together for a great weekend of TLCA fun!

Please take the time to discuss this with your clubs. If you have any questions, there is a thread "insert link to main TLCA event thread here" open for discussion. If your chapter is interested in participating in this, please contact Art Schramm packman73 @ gmail.com to be added to the event mailing list. We will working on this collaboratively online through the mailing list. We would like to get rolling on the marketing of this in the next few weeks, with registration beginning the first of the year.

I am sure you all will want to discuss this and decide as a club if you are interested in helping to put on this event

I was considering running down to SMORR this winter and checking it out.

My friend's father in law actually owns SMORR. The owner lives across the river from Washington. I believe he kept a house down there also.

I've still never met anyone except my friend from town here, who had actually been there. Any reviews? The photo's look nice, their website is excellent with mucho corporate support.

Thad, how about a pre-run this winter. Since you're in the neighborhood.

I can bring by black stallion glistening in the moonlight 80 series. Our family has a place in kimberling city at paradise landing by the Hwy 13 bridge. I'm up for some wheeling and trout fishing at Taneycomo.
Moj also has family in the area.

I may be up for a winter pre-run, especially if fishing is involved but I'd have to take my 4runner.

I dont' believe it's doable for me prior to xmas. We can also go out on tablerock and do some fishing. We'd have to rent a boat on Taneycomo. But it's much easier winter fishing, and really cheap.

I plan on making several runs this winter. I am  that I have yet to try it out being that its less than 15 min from my house. When they first opened up the scuttlebut was that the trail were very narrow. Flat Nasy was a freeway in comparision. My truck was a lot more stock and I never thought about it again Now I have been asking around and have heard many good things about it. Lots of locals are using it.

The only problem with your plan it you will be an hour out from SMORR to the lake. We would need to work out a closer starting point to make it easier on you folk, but I am ready.

I just figured something out.

What I thought was SMORR was not. I drove by a place called southern missouri offroad on hwy 248 15 minutes north of branson 2 years ago, thinking they were one and the same.

SMORR is located way east of springfield (Seymour) .

When you said it was an hour from the lake a little light bulb went off?

Now
what is the name of the place I drove by. It looked like a mut pit, and motorcycle area, with off road trails and was called southern Missouri somethin or another???

Not quite sure what that would be. Smorr is right next to MoJ 's place in diggin's about 18 min east of Spfd

I saw the sign on 160 on the way to kimberling city, and turned around and checked it out. There was another sign and a few posts on mud for some extreme off road challenge last summer on 13 in branson west, I never saw any photo's, but it appeared to be kinda of a local event possibly.

Oh well, now I know where SMORR is. Thanks for the clues. At least it closer.

SMORR, Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch - Home

This should help... :D

I'm interested in doing something for this event as long as it doesn't involve sales pitch marketing. I would have trouble selling a glass of water to someone that's been lost in the dessert. If there is any way we could get a list of things to do I will pick something I can be helpful with.

I think that was MOROC, run by Nathan Davis here in St. Louis. He puts on events in and around missouri. It started off as rock crawling and evolved into woods racing

Some of the Green Country crew in Oklahoma are talking a pre-run or two to SMORR also. This is excited as I've the GCC guys in a while.

Jason - are you still on their email list.... only a few of them get on Mud. Y'all may be able to hook with GCC at SMORR.

My rig is dismantled again and I hope to have it back up by March or I'd be interested in a trip to check it out.

I'd be up for coming down for a pre-run as well. I know I'll be down there the weekend of Howiepalooza for sure (End of April), but I'd be up for coming down earlier than that as well...

Dec 6th is the date that is being thown around for the first pre-run. I am leaving it up to folk farther away as its easy for me to get there anytime

I get a few of the e-mails, must be someone with an old club list. I'm guessing I miss most of them.

My father in law lives 15 minutes from SMORR. If someone is up for an early 2009 run I could make it. I don't think I'll have time before then.

If this effort continues then I would guess there will be several runs. I would like to map out each trail with a estimate on how long each trail will take to run. Dec and Jan are fine if not some more runs. Dont much care for it in July and August. Just let me know when. I know several of us in Springfield are planning on going to the lonestar jambo in the middle of Jan but other than that I am open.

Have I said "You Suck" lately? :flipoff2:

20 minutes to wheelin' :hmm:.... I'm 20 minutes to a good gas station :bang:

What is it they say about wichita, its not hell but you sure can see it from there.

Last time I saw this much activity with GCC was when Dorthy had just gotten here ruby red slippers.
