Tall Corn Cruiser members:

When we made the decision to join the Iowa Association of 4WD Clubs, the dues were $15/member. When we went to the association meeting and paid back in Jan/Feb, we were told that the dues were only $6/member and another $9/member if we wanted to have each member become a member of the Midwest 4WD Association.

I was forced to make a decision, and decided at the time that it would be okay for us to just be IA4WDC members.

So, that being said, you may have noticed the wheeling opportunity that was offered up back in June by the JOCCI club. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend as I'm not a MW4WDA member and thus not covered by their insurance. I can't guarantee opportunites like this will arise again, but if they do, I know I'd like to be able to attend.

Unfortunately, MW4WDA does NOT allow for individual memberships.

So, I ask, should we pay (out of the club funds), to become members of Midwest?

This is YOUR club, so I need YOU to decide. Please vote.

Information about Midwest 4WD Assocation can be found here: http://www.mw4wda.org/
Note: While it does say individual memberships, you'll note that the link is dead. I've done some checking and they do NOT offer these memberships any longer.

Thanks,
Art

Being a member of MW4WDA has the benefits of covering you at private owned places. Dan's ,where the Tall Corn Classic is held, being one of them along with JOCCI. Now I'm not current on who all Dan is allowing at his place during non-events but I do know it's nice having the insurance coverage if more casual, smaller events do arise.

I have members in my club, 4x4 Syndicate, that are also members in JOCCI. I have also been a member of JOCCI and MIOBI in the past so I can work on getting some events planned where we can all get together and do what we all love to do, which is wheelin'.

4x4 Syndicate does have some land available but if we do plan an event, you will need to be covered by mw4wda.

We are all working to get more places to wheel and if you are open to having the coverage for as little as it costs it is definately worth it.

I'm of the opinion that MW4WDA needs us and we need them. MIOBI donated $1000 to them last year and I expect we'll do the same this year.

I attended the spring MW4WDA meeting and got a close look at the people running the club and I feel like I got a good idea of their intent and sincerity.

Based on that, I feel it's important that MW4WDA survive.. and that's appears to be the point it's at right now... barely surviving.

IMO, the price is small for such service as they provide with just the insurance, not to mention the impact they have on many other 4x4 issues. Trust me, this is not just about insurance, they are active in the legislative process, working to ensure we have adequate representation in order to maintain the access we currently have (tho this means less to people in Iowa than Wis and Minn because we've already lost all of our land).

I hope some of that made sense. :)

I'm in!

I went wheelin' with the Tri State Stump Jumpers a couple of weeks ago.

They wheel twice a month on the same trails only two times.

Lots of trails! Most are in Wisconsin and Ill. some in Iowa.

It sucks loosing land to wheel, maybe, just maybe we can get ours back.

Great feedback all! Thanks!

Like Dingman I belong to MOIBI, one reason is to support the bigger groups. I think TCC joining would help get some areas to wheel so it is a good idea to participate. Seems like large pressure groups only have the resources to get things done.

Sounds good!

If you haven't already chimed in or voted, please do. I think I'll close this thread on the 21st (day before the Tall Corn Cruiser Classic). I talked to Jim Shanks from the IA4WDC's tonight at the parade and we just need to send a check into MW4WDA for our members. Also, there was some more discussion of us being invited to "The Farm" to wheel with the JOCCI folks. :D
