Hi all,

I won a set of MetalTech doors at the FG. Very psyched to get them. I just pulled them out to paint them and they have the newer style hinge mounts. I have a 1972 FJ40 with the older style slide on hinges. Door no workie on truck.

I'd like to sell these and buy another set from Mark at Metaltech that will fit. These doors are AWESOME! It's killing me that they don't work and I gotta have a set that will.

$350. Still in the wrapper and includes latches, handles, and all hardware. Feel free to write out the check to MetalTech in my name!

I have no doubt that MetalTech would take them back in a heartbeat with no questions asked. They were great to work with.

Yankee Toys is a pretty big group so I'm guessin someone will want them. Since MetalTech was good enough to donate them I'd hate to put them thru the hassle. If nobody wants them here I'll prolly do that. Plus buying another set from him will offset his costs of the donation a bit. I think I accidentally told MetalTech it was for my troopy instead of the 40 since we talked about both.

probably overthinking the whole scenario but that's me.

I think you jsut have to change the striker plate. I bought a set for my 76FJ40 and my 74 FJ45 extended cab. They came with the Jeep type door latch. I put the older striker plate on and they work fine. Not the short hoop type striker plate but the cast aluminum with the ramp built into it.

x2. I'll buy the old style hoop striker plates off you. I need a set.

I think the real issue is that the hinges on your 72 are factory soft top hinges which are a little different than the hinges on a hard top truck. I'm guessing that the MT doors require a pin to lock them into the hinge. You could weld a pin into the MT doors and make them work with your current truck...

pictures? I would be interested in some tube doors. yummy! cant find pics on the metal tech website either.

Talking to Mark from MetalTech today. He said he might be able to adapt something to get them to fit. I do have factory soft top hinges so that is the problem.
