My FJ 62 was running great except for a high idle at about 1200. So I took off the throttle sensor (the one with two screws) and cleaned it out real good with carb cleaner. It works much smoother now.

I also took off the sensor in front of that one (the one with three screws) and made sure it was working well. Is this the one they call Throttle positioning sensor? Opened up the inside and checked everything but didn't spray any carb cleaner in there. The thing seemed to turn out just fine while apart. Put it all back together and now I have a major problem. It idles fine now but it surges real bad above 1500 and won't go above 2k RPM with a severe loss of power. What did I do to screw this up? I have checked all vacuum leaks and like I said, ran great before I did the above. Your help is mucho appreciated.

I have adjusted the throttle postion sensor as specified in the FSM and no change in the above condition. Idles fine at 800 but dies and starts surging when pushed up to 1800. Would the idle speed control valve (3 screws) cause this problem if not installed correctly?

I checked the idle speed control valve acc. to the FSM procedure and it checks out fine. I can't get this motor to go above 1800 RPM without the fuel cutting off. Does anyone have any ideas? Please?

Thanks. Normally, I would think that might be the problem but as I said, the truck ran great prior to my messing with the TPS and ISCV. To me it seems it has to be related to these two things. Didn't touch anything else.
