Not all of your members are TLCA members? Shame on you Brian. You mean you don't hold a gun to their heads and make them join. What kind of sissy club are you in? (for those of you who can't understand sarcasm, I'm joking). I don't think there is any TLCA club that really has 100% TLCA membership and I really don't think it would be a very fun thing to try to enforce. You lay the information out on the table, some folks pick it up, others don't. You want to go wheeling with these folks don't you? I can just imagine the fun trips you'd have if your forced somebody into joining.

The organization definitely has problems. Right now is the time to fix them. If they don't get fixed now you may as well say goodbye and everything goes in the toilet. I'm on the BOD, I'm the current EVP. I've only been involved for a year. There have been many times that I've been wanting to throw in the towel and give it all up, including my membership. I've just figured that eventually we would hit light again. There have been times that I have been ashamed to have been associated with this organization. This year will be the defining year. Either we get back the magic or we toss it all away. The BOD has a lot of new people and with these new people comes a lot of energy and new ideas. Hopefully, we can work together and step things up. We have a new editor and new face behind the emails and the phone. Hopefully, we can keep everything in check and satisfy most everyone.

Brian, I'm sorry I didn't check this out sooner. I get lost in the tech stuff and the classifieds. I'm always looking for something, but not usually an arguement.

Thanks for all of the info and suggestions. I'll keep this stuff in the back of my head as I try to help the organization this year. I always answer emails and I try my best to help people out when I can. Feel free to email me your concerns.

Toyota Trails was the only reason when I joined TLCA. The sanctioned events have been good and they also justify a membership. I'm looking forward to TLCA concentrating on land cruisers and having FUN. Let's do it.
Happy TRails! N

I wonder if it is possible to allow an expiration date to become permanent? I have trouble with renewing today and my anniversary date changing to today, since I'm not expired till March.

The way it is now I have to remember to renew when I expire to continue to recieve benefits. Just a thought.

Hey Kids! Like any member driven organisation, ya get what ya give. I was delegate for TornadoAlley in the heart of the "Dark Years," and allowed myself to get run out. With the new infusion of folks that seem to want to work more than argue, I allowed myself back in the organisation. I never left tlca, just didn't wnat to manage it anymore. Like most of you, I stayed for TT and trail rides. I looove tlca trail rides! We try to have folks over for dinner and drinks at least one night, and I've met more cool people than I can shake a stick at, seen more cool rigs I've stolen ideas from, and gotten the chance to wheel outside my own neighborhood, seen parts of the country I haven't seen. To me, that's what's at the core of the tlca is the great people. You really should join just to attend one sometime. As far as TT goes, I've spent some time talking to Todd, and he seems like a good guy, with good ideas. He's got biiig shoes to fill, but ya know what? Part of that's your job. Make TT better, submit! Get published! Take pix of trail rides, maintainance, upgrades, meetings. Write a paragraph or two. It's not too hard! I've already put my money where my mouth is here and sent Todd an article. Anyway, enough for now, Alan in tornadoalley

there is nothing better than seeing your writing in gloss!!

and if not for TLCA, I would have never gone to Moab Utah.

and I have met sooooo many good people... literally good people who I am proud to call friends.

I often say that our club is only as good as our members; and our members are great! The same holds true for TLCA.

I joined tlca sometime in 98 I think, cause I had a cruiser.Sold the sruiser, let the membership lapse even though I still had a Hilux 4x.Rejoined in 2000 for Rubithon.Fun trailride!!I was never "active" in TLCA aside from actively reading TT, even tho there was almost nothing truck related...In the process of getting rid of the runner for a 65 fj40, thought I'd rejoin...I get enough politics on talk radio, all I want from TLCA is "the Trails":)
In reality, it's not even the discounts(already get 20% at my local toy dealer), Just want to learn more, and if i can share, then do that too.

I renew for Trails! Almost all of the publications on the racks have lots of articles and glossy photos, but no heart. The articles that do have Yota stuff usually leave me disapointed in content. I look forward to my Trails in the mail, whenever it gets here (don't care & don't pay attention) I don't really even care what the articles are about (as long as they are about/involve Yotas) I gladly pay my due for my Trails, as long as it stays close to the quality it is today. Also, I do think a postcard would work better as a reminder of renewal.

Another thing, I think it's cool that a bunch of Yota folks like to have chapters that are all bound by one common body, even if that's all it is. I'm one that doesn't care a bit about the politics or rules, but glad someone else does. Yeh, the net has all the same stuff, can join just about any club to meet friends, and anybody can invite a bunch of folks to go on a run, but it ain't the same! Can't explain it though (too deep for me - makes my head hurt)
